93 700r4 ?
I got a new trans for my 93 formula but the new one has a 4 pin plug for converter lockup and the factory trans has a round 5 pin plug, the factory trans is a 700r4 it has a t/v cable. from what I can find on line the 93 700r4 is the only year the round 5 pin plug was used. What is the differance in the two? can the new one be used?

Valve body, seperator plate, wiring, and reverse input housing are all different between a '93 specific 4L60 and an earlier 700R4. If you istall an earlier 700R4 the lock up will not function correctly which will cause internal transmission damage, due to excessive heat the converter will generate. You'll probably want to take the trans back to the shop where you purchased it, and tell them you need a 1993 specific 4L60.
