Just out of curiosity are these 4l60s or 700r4s because I thought the 4l60 came out in our cars in 94 so did they change mid year?
I have a 93 and I am pretty sure it has a 700 in it but its bday is Valentines day 1993 so I am thinking that its a mid year car and I should look to see what trans it has in it.

As far as I know, LT1's are particular by year for the most part. If your car is a '93, get a '93 fbody 4L60 transmission. If you bought a '94 tranny, it's a 4L60E. If you need help differentiating them, give our Trans sponsor on here a PM. His name is Cahall.

they are a 1 off version in the 93's, i have always referred to them and 4L60/700R4, never seen solid evidence to show that its one or the other. its just 1 more thing that makes the 93 special.

From what I understand the 700R4 and the 4L60 are completely interchangable however the 4L60 has a slightly higher spline count. You can swap 700R4s and 4L60s back and forth because they are mechanicaly controlled where as the 4L60e is is electronicly controlled. Thats the only differences.

Yes you can make a 4L60/700R4 work in a 94+ car but no its not worth your time or money, haha. The 4L60 is pretty desirable though in the older 3rd gen and C4 vettes so you might have more luck unloading these there.

Well I am going to swap it to a T56 soon anyway and the last thing I need to do it should be here tomorrow from Moates so I can read the stock pcm tune and then burn my own chip setup for a M6.

In my opinion for a t56 to auto swap the 700r4/4l60 is a bit easier as you dont even have to touch the pcm

I run a 700r4 in my formula...hope to put it in the 8s this year

In the 8's???? That is crazy! I love it lol. I was also under the impression that I would have to change up the programming for the pcm so my speedo ect are right after going to the T56. I was going to delete vats and change fan on temps ect but nothing really major because its still stock and high mileage so I usually take it easy on it.
