Default Winter Build comp 91mm 396 lt1 air to water best time 5.87@118

I'm going to start up a build thread for my car this winter. I'm doing this so I can share ideas and information with everyone. Everyone's opinions are welcome as I am undecided on a few things and would like to here what you think. And I will post up pics of the progress throughout the build. Thanks, Miles.

    Engine: 396 lt1
    heads: I have brodix cnc'd IK210's.
intake: Edelebrock super vic w/ aarons intake elbow's elbow and fast 92mm TB
    Cam: Comp custom grind.
    Crank: Callies Dragon slayer
    Rods: Callies ultra XD
    Pistons: Diamond
    Compression: 9.8:1
    Transmission: Powerglide
Rearend: moser 12 bolt 3.42 gear
Turbo: Comp 91mm ball bearing billet wheel

I'm running homemade headers that I made with 2.5" crossover pipes.

    Burkart Chassis 10pt cage

The car has a full Sphon suspension with QA1 shocks.

I'm sure there are a ton more things I forgot to add, but I will just add stuff as I go. And feel free to voice your input.

Run a taller gear. I'm a 3.54 with a T56. If I went auto I'd hit redline at 130mph-ish. I'm trapping almost that now and I'm just at 10psi, barely breathing on it. Your build sounds similar to mine, you'll like it.

Very nice, I am starting my turbo build as well. I already have a short block that has made a lot of power, so I can give you some ideas on the components you should consider(well I guess depending on what kind of power your looking for) as for crank and rods.. crank-callies dragonslayer will work very well, and rods get some nice callies.. h or I. As for heads I love AI heads so anything from them will work great with boost(200cc stockers, 212cc tfs,215tfs,) I also see a lot of guys with boost running the 227 afr heads and doing well with them, just only down side to those they require shaft mount rockers. Well good luck keep us updated!

That's weird that you are almost redlining at 130ish with a 3.54. I have a 3.90 gear in my car right now and trapped 135 crossing the line around 6800-7000rpm. My buddy has a big turbo lq9 car that traps 160 with the 3.42 gear. What rpm do you take your car up to? And thanks for your input.

I like AFR heads but they want an arm and a leg for them. I'm pretty partial to brodix but Im going to the IMIS show in Indy next weekend so I'm going to try and talk to a few head manufactures and get some input. I would also consider keeping the ones I have and sending them out to get ported. I was most likely gonna go with a callies/compstar crank and rods for my first choice but didn't know if there are any cheaper alternative out there that can hold up to the power. Thanks for your advice!

That's if I went auto. I'm a T56 right now. I'm going to 6500 and not even near redline when I go thru the traps. Probably depends on the converter slipping a lot also.

i have a 383, 8:1 compression, 210 afr competition heads (flow 322 cfm). twin turbo 72mm. i also have a th400 with some 3.25 gears on some 28" tires and they work awsome.
I would ether go with a 4l80e ( if you have enough money). or a th400. but i would deffinitly not go powerglide if i was you if you plan on driving it on the street.

how much cfm are the heads?
what compression are you going to be running?
how much boost do you plan to run?

Brodix says they flow 288@.600 lift. I'm planning on running 9:1 - 9.5:1 and running 25 pounds of boost. What 60ft times do you pull at the track?
