A/C and firewall connector questions

Do you have to evacuate the AC system before you start unbolting it? Becuase Im pulling my motor in prep for a LSx and the A/C is my last step.

Also the connector right by the brake booster, it goes through the firewall and has a sheetmetalm screw holding it on, yeah how does the come disconnected lol

the A/C should definitely be evacuated if it was charged. That might be tough at this point if the car is apart. You don't want to breathe that stuff though. see if there is a local company that can come to you.

On the main harness through the firewall there by the brake booster, there is no disconnect there. That bolt just secures the harness and the big rectangle grommet thing around the wiring is just there to protect and hold the wires. They are actually glued into that thing. You have to follow the wires on the inside and disconnect them under the dash. There is quite a few things to disconnect before it can be pulled out, but it's not too bad.

where are the connectoions? I dont see anything under there lol

I'm not sure what you mean by that. there is wiring and connectors to things everywhere below the dash. don't you have the cover off the bottom side of the dash?

look up under the drivers side of the dash at the firewall and find where that big bundle of wiring comes in that you were trying to remove, and follow where it goes and unplug things. There's not much else to say about it, just gotta get in there and do it.

It took some crawling and getting some connectors in tight places but I got it ALL out lol.

What a pain, Gm should just made the connection at the firewall, would have been sooo much easier.

Yes they should have. They had a perfect poortunity to do it right there at the firewall.

One of the projects on my "some day" list is putting a disconnect on that bundle shortly after it passes through the firewall on the inside.

What connector do you plan on using? That sounds interesting. and It would be a great plus for when you pulled a motor and wanted to clean up the engine bay
