LTCC mod finally installed- first startup on 95 Formula
Here is my Youtube video of my first startup after installing the LTCC mod on my 95 Formula with a Vette LT1. You can hear it idling really nicely, from the rear of the car, and I also gave it a few quick revs, at the beginning of the video. Hope some people enjoy it!
The exhaust is some kind of SLP Loudmouth (It was on the car when I bought it) with stock Cat/Y-pipe.
Catless Flowmaster coming soon. I like Flowmaster, and I am not ashamed to admit it.
It was about 22 degrees out that morning, here in Casper, Wyoming.

sounds nice! should be faster having that vette motor in it over a Fbody LT1

the 4 bolts are nice, power is exactly the same though between the 2 running in the same application. but if you end up building a motor get a 2 bolt block and get splayed caps for it.
and did that LTCC smooth out the idle or anything? im running a stock opti and a single MSD coil running my stroker with a F1A procharger and have no spark issues, just trying to see the advantage to the LTCC.1997 SS- 30th #80 SS #455 383, F1A, nitrous

The advantage is really for those who want to rev above 6500 rpms. The LTCC is also more reliable. I was building a 383 stroker that was going to rev to 6800 and was going to use the LTCC on this engine. I decided I am selling my 383 short block (makes me sad) but I installed the LTCC onto my current engine mainly because it's reliable and also because it's just cool.
And yes the idle is smoother, and now I have a more reliable ignition.
When I swap my Lloyd Elliott goodies onto my current engine, I will use the opti that I made last year...I cut the rotor off and just used the bottom/round part of it to hold down the cam sensor wheel, plus I sealed the heck out of it with black silicone. So, then I won't have to worry about my opti rotor shattering (granted, I'll only be revving to around 6200 with the 219/227 cam but whatever). As far as optis "going out," this happens to some guys, yet other guys never have problems with their optis. It's just one of those things. I won't have to worry about any high voltage running through my opti, nor will I have to worry about a shattered rotor.
It's a peace of mind type thing...plus it looks kinda cool when you open the hood.

Optisparks are good pieces. What happens is some guys get moisture into their opti units, and then they get all kinds of messed up. They can get messed up by using the MSD components alongside of the optis. Who knows....maybe some optis were built better than others, which is a distinct possibility because of human error, laziness, etc.
Your 97 came with a vented opti, so that helps it a lot. Vented Optisparks are good and reliable and should provide years and years of good service.
The LTCC is MORE reliable (when a good opti is in place), but this doesn't mean optis are bad.
