Thread: Lets do this.....again

Fueling issues are gettin better, but it's still making 543 ish to the tires. In the end, I want it to do whatever it's capable o safely, but at 28 degrees of timing and still making 80 less to the tires than on the dyno with Keith, it leads me to believe I have to have something unknown going on.
Still not done with the tuning, but if today doesn't end with at least 620 to the tires, my patience with the car for this year will be officially up!

Done. Literally.
The car finished the day making 513 at the wheels. It's loosing boost somehow. Can't find a leak (and we looked extensively in the BOV and everything). No belt slip. Nothing but another dyno with more diss appointing numbers than before, another dyno tune to pay, and a bigger problem than before.
I am officially done with the car. If there was a cliff nearby, I would push it over the side. I may fix te brake issue, but past that I am done dicking with it. I don't have the funds anymore or the drive.
Forgive me friends, but I am now going to get away from the car scene for a while.

God Ben, I really feel bad about all of this. I don't know what to say buddy, other than I am completely mystified at the boost loss with no apparent reason. If I could come out and rip it all apart and throw the LTx manifold stuff back on and see what happens, I'd already be there man.
If anyone has ANY ideas as to why he's losing boost without signs of belt slip air leaks, please post them up because I'm intrigued myself. No vac leaks, no air leaks to be found, bypass valve checked good, no dusting around belt as signs of slip, and he's saying boost is linear which goes against the though of slip too.Last edited by Fastbird; 08-17-2012 at 11:48 AM.

The boost leak before was from the guy who was finding the original problem of the coolant temp sensor being bad, driving it on back roads and not being used to the suspension, and scraping one of the hoses from the blower to the intercooler to the point there was a hole in the hose.
The hose was replaced and re-clamped.
The dyno shop didn't hook up a boost reference to the dyno,so there was no way to see if the boost was linear or not. Only means of reading the boost was via my guage in the car. Something was up before I got there though because on a day like today, 13+ pounds of boost would be the usual. We started today with 11, and by the time we finished, we were at 9. Whatever it was, it was getting worse in a relatively short period of time.
Its a fairly simple problem. There only can be a few solutions.
#1; There is a boost leak in the car
#2; The BOV is not functioning properly
#3; There is a vacuum leak
#4; Belt slip
#5; The procharger unit is going out
Really thats it. Besides the last one, all the others have been checked (some of them multiple times). And I don't really think the D1SC is going out. From what I understand about them when they fail, they are usually done all at once. Not loosing boost 1 pound at a time.
I'm really not in any kind of state of mind to dick with it anymore. The car hasn't given me one ounce of happiness this year, in a year I really could have used it the most. I don't have the funds to throw money at it anymore to keep looking. I'm now 100% sure I will not go to the shootout because of it. If my Z was a human, I would take real pleasure in strangling it to its last dying breath right now.Last edited by CALL911; 08-17-2012 at 02:01 PM.

It's not something silly like the intake to the headunit or the filter collapsing is it?
It would only be happening when it's spun up in the higher rpms and would collapse easier the more often it collapsed.
I imagine it was already checked on, but i figured it was worth mention

Ben, this really saddens me to hear all of this. I wish that Phil would have gotten back with you, but his ways of working with people can be baffling at times. I really would like to throw an offer out to you from Brett and I to help you figure this out. If you have a free weekend after the Shootout, I know Brett and I could try to take a look. I hate to see you so discouraged, so if there is anything we can do to help...
