Torco Accelerator?
Have any of you guys ever used Torco Accelerator fuel additive? Or any other Torco product? They're becoming famous where I live and was wondering what you guys think.. I'm personally skeptical about octane boosters but I understand Torco is a racing fuel brand..

you need more octane buy race gas, otherwise use meth injection. Only additive I would suggest is water wetter, octane boosters are just not dependable especially if you're trying to use it to reduce preexisting knock

Well, actually I think I don't need it, my car is almost stock and I don't have any kind of pre-ignition/knock problems.. I was just wondering why the stuff is so popular, I've read that it increases horsepower and I think it's plain bullshit, so just wondering what are your thoughts and if somebody has had experience with it

In my opinion, it's all crap. Some people think there will be magic solutions that will just give them horsepower so they buy it. I believe about 6 years ago me and a buddy did the math on stuff like that and you would have to fill up at least a quarter of your fuel tank with the stuff for it to even remotely affect the octane to a point where it would make a difference.
However, if you have no need for the extra octane (like running more timing, more boost, nitrous) then you're car isn't going to magically run like a raped ape.
More octane does not always = more power
There must be a factor in the middle that justifies the increase in octane, otherwise your car just runs rich.
Edit: to further add, the reason he was using one of those products was because he had a supercharged GTP, and on hot nights he would sometimes get some knock high in the revs. He would use it as a precautionary against detonationLast edited by Z28pr0jekt; 06-24-2012 at 06:01 AM.
