    Default LT1 Pressure Plate issues.

Sorry to bring up this old topic but I have researched this subject way to much and I'm still confused. I originally purchased an F1 racing flywheel, pressure plate and multi friction disc. I've been chasing a bad vibration from day one. All rpm related. Free revving or driving. Pulled it out and had flywheel balanced to match original flywheel. Pressure plate wasn't balanced due to not having a zero balanced flywheel to use. It was clocked to be within 4 grams. Installed and still had vibration. Pulled tranny again and started without tranny hooked up. Vibration still there. Pulled plate and disc, smooth as can be at all rpm's. Put plate back on vib still there. Installed original valeo plate and all is smooth. So after tons of research and reading I decided to purchase a SPEC stage 2 plus and say screw the F1 racing. The SPEC PP looks identical to the F1 racing. Same casting #'s C70043 on cover and 211 on fingers. Same color too. No signs of balancing either. I don't want the same issues. What gives here? I thought spec pressure plates were different. Did I waste $600 here? Has anyone figured out what the yellow paint mark is for? I can't seem to find a definite answer on the paint mark. I can see how the valeo is balanced by some holes that are drilled in end of main plate surface. Nothing on SPEC or F1. Am I safe to install the SPEC? Looking for some help.

Talked to SPEC today. Very helpful and knowledgeable tech line. They told me the covers are industry standard. Everything is balanced and they are the only ones that modify the LT1 pressure plates for more clamping force. As for the paint dot, has nothing to do with balancing. Different color dots coordinate with the different thickness of disc. How thick the actual plate surface is. Pink dot is relative to stage 1. Yellow to my stage 2 plus etc. Just thought I would pass this info on. A+++ to SPEC's tech line. They even took the time to tell me some things to look for on my F1 racing pressure plate as to why it may be out of balance. Class act!!!
