Trans Am has a hard ticking.
I bought the car originally as a parts car but it was almost too nice to do that. But this past weekend I heard it ticking hard. Sounded like a wristpin. It now certainly be my parts car for the formula. Along with the parts I have at the house, I could do something very nice for the formula. I just have to decide if I want to swap out the A4 for the M6. Decisions, decisions.

I'm thinking 383-385(if rebuild is needed) with the A4. What do you guys think?

Kind of hard for us to suggest a path when you don't really indicate what kind of goals you're shooting for, what kind of build, what kind of horsepower, budget, resources, etc.

Sorry about that. I think that 425-450hp N/A would be a nice number to hit. I would consider a power adder down the road if I felt froggy. As for budget that is a interesting subject that I'd rather not post on here. I could pm that information to someone when needed. As far as resources I'm looking at a 2 hour drive to Rochester for a dyno tune at a shop that no longer does Lt1 tunes. Saying that I'm considering a 24x conversion in a 383/385 cube 425+hp A4 Formula.

If you're looking for the most cost-effective method of getting those numbers look into what I did with my 383. Despite what many people think there are no super high dollar parts or fancy engineering involved.
Since you won't divulge budget, if you're starting from scratch you're looking at 8k+, EASY.-Joe-

Just out of curiosity are you saying 8k for just the engine or 8k for the whole drive train.
Edit: nm that doesnt make sense either. I came up with aproximatly 5-5500 short block and heads which makes me wondering what else im missing.Last edited by AdamG; 04-15-2012 at 07:36 PM.

These are the parts I have currently. Magnaflow cat back, AS&M headers, msd 6a, aluminum driveshaft, spare 643 castings, intake and supposedly the 383 was built fairly strong. I can see a csr water pump, underdrive pulleys, msd coil, trick flow 30#s , and roller rockers.
