    Default NA vs FI

Ok, Im bored, and i do not currently have the money to do anything like this anytime soon, and im not trying to start any kind of flaming war which i dont think is a problem here.

But anyways, say i was going to build a 500 rwhp engine, that i can drive anytime i want to without worrying about my car breaking down. Which is actually the cheaper route? A high revving N.A. motor or a supercharged/turbocharged application. I know FI is going to be more streetable, but which would be cheaper. Im not talking about a "budget build" but if everthing is done right from start to finish. Or is there not much of a difference.

a big inch fully forged turbocharged LTX would be my weapon of choice.

Id say from a relyability standpoint, both would be alright if built and tuned correctly.... Theres lots of Fcars roaming the streets with 500+rwhp.... It will boil down to what you like best, both will be streetable if you build it with that in mind....

If it were me, I would do the N/A just because you have to love a big motor

Both will no doubt be expensive though, but how much $$$ its going to cost will depend on how much HP you want to make...

I guess im more asking for which would be a cheaper build in the long run, instead of just preference, or are they both about the same.

h/c with spray would be the cheapest
and since noone really NEEDS 500hp all the time it might be the best way to go

To get 500rwhp N/A your gonna have to have a pretty nasty set up. High compression and a pretty good sized cam are gonna be a must. Doesnt make for the best daily driver.

Cheaper?? N/A for sure. A Solid Roller stroker with some aftermarket heads (TFS would be my choice) would get you there.

But.....having almost gone that route myself, I went FI because you get the best of both worlds. Driveability and insane power. It costs quite a bit more though.

Thanks for the responses. Just something ive always wondered. I knew there were alot of guys making big numbers with stock heads and cam with FI, with a built bottom end, and then there are the guys with aftermarket top ends and built bottom ends, making big numbers too. I new the cheapest though would be nitrous.
