waaaaay off topic. hot tub help needed
i bought a used hot tub that needed a pump (never seen it run). got the pump hooked up, filled it up and put power to it. all the display lights came on for a minute or so, then it flashed "CANC" and the "program" light is blinking. none of the buttons do anything. the pump seems to be on low. i unplugged the topside control and plugged it back in and now it shows the water temp and time. the "heating" light is on.
....so last night i tried restarting it several times with no change. i let it run throughout the night and this morning woke up to it running the 1st pump on high and trying to kick on the 2nd pump. it would kick on and run for a second then stop. so i reset it again, now nothing is running and its flashing "econ". i need a priest....Chris

do yo know who makes the controller? Spadepot.com is where I get my supplies form and they have a pretty good list of controllers. Some of them have downlodable owners maunals.

Know the feeling, my "free" hot tub ran me over a grand. I did go with the salt system, so the chemical costs are real low now. Good luck, I am going out to mine later for a soak.

i figured i would pass what i found on in case someone stumbles upon this subject in a search. i took the control off and the bottom of the unit was broke and stuck to the foam underneeth. i took the circuit board out and checked for continuity on the buttons. all had continuity but up, down, set, and pump 2 showed quite a bit of resistance so i cleaned the terminal ends up as best i could. i snipped the end of the grey control cable off and rehooked it, quick reboot and the system works. the set button is still a little stubborn but works and at least i can control the unit. my guess is that the plastic housing deteriorated, cracked, and allowed moisture into the unit, corroding the terminal ends. it was in service since 1998 so it had a good run. im going to go ahead and order a new one. after i buy it i will have exactly $1000 in the whole tub. when it comes to these things, theres no such thing as "free" or "cheap"

It is the Nexa Spa one the Spa Depot sells. Was a little over $350 with the start up kit. I have an inground pool that is conventional. The hot tub is much less work water maintainence with the salt system. I love how simple it is to keep the water clean. It feels good on your skin and you don't smell like chlorine. I figure it will pay for itself in 3 seasons. I don't keep the hot tub running all year. I think it is worth it, I may convert the pool.

I like the way that sounds. I've never had a pool or hot tub before and so far it seems like a lot of work to keep up with the bromide. I have an ozone generator too so maybe it and the chlorine generator will get along nicely
