Weird wiring issue???
Well got my new valve train set up and such everything is fine there. But now after all this my car will not crank over..
First went to discount to get the battery checked.......everything checked out fine
Second checked everything made sure if it was off the headers......check there
Its acting like the battery is dead and the terminals on the battery are getting REALLLLLL hot even when not cranking the starter doesn't click or anything just go to start it and like barley turns over once then done. real weird probably have had this issue for a while just finally killed the battery the other day when it was driving..............any ideas where to start looking...........I want to drive this thing and actually might have a trade on it for a new Bird.......

If the battery terminals are getting hot when you connect the battery you have a direct short. Should see a large spark. If so disconnect the battery and find the short ASAP. Its a fire and explosion hazard. You said the car shut off on you? I assume it runs? Alternators have been know to short out internally. Disconnect the high current cable from the alternator with the car off. Connect the battery, and touch the high current wire to the alternators stud. Should be NO spark.
The starter may be taking a poop. Pulling too many amps. Or there is excess load on the starter. Higher compression, water in cyls, valves not opening. A good way to check a few things. Is to disconnect the high current cable from the battery to the starter and measure the resistance in the wire. Anything over 1ohm is too much. The crimps in the ends may have become corroded and no longer making a good connection. Or there may be a split in the insulation somewhere down the line causing corrosion, frayed or disconnected strands and a higher resistance.
Should also check the high current ground cable the same way. If all the above checks out. Have a friend try to start the car and watch a volt meter connected to your battery for voltage drop. Anything over 2 volts on a fully charged battery indicates to me a bad or failing battery. Or a battery with too little cranking amps.
I don't trust the auto parts stores testing equipment. I may be 23 but I like to test the old fashion way. By pulling AMPs. Not a fancy battery tester that does a mathematical equation to decide the batteries condition. Most of the parts store employees don't know jack about using the test equipment or real world conditions. Just intakes and civics. LOL

Well it was running but now i can't find this problem with it. I'll do them few test this weekend. Im talking so hot you can't touch the bolts on the battery with out branding yourself hot.

If the battery has a dead cell internal short could cause this. The internal regulator gone bad in the alternator overcharging the battery then the battery could explode if its getting that hot. Working on an RV at a gas station in high school years ago the battery was smoking and required gloves to remove $3.35hr at the time never thought about the cost to me if that battery exploded.
I'd think battery, alternator, wiring to and from junction box as those are what I removed to change my valve covers plugs etc. Also check the relays on drivers side fender and the fuses if someone didn't put the proper rated fuse or relay or going bad then could be placing resistance or shorting the system.
Are the wires from the positive posts of the battery to the junction box red on passenger fender then to the single post on the alternator?
