    Default Header leak with aluminum gaskets???

    After changing the gaskets, my drivers side still leaks. Suggestion?

    Are you sure its the gasket and not the header flange? Did you get all the gasket off?

    If the gasket is in place... give it a few heat cycles and go over the bolts again....

    Pull the header off and have the flange planed...

    YOu could also use high temp silicone (I think the copper gasket maker) it help with any imperfections.

    I went back over all the bolts again, after driving it a little yesterday. The leak is still there, but you only really hear it if your looking for it. Is it possible that the headers are warped? Theyre probably four to five years old....

    Its possible for sure. Like said above, have the side that leaks checked machined if you want it perfect. You could try a diff. brand of gasket maybe?

    u can cut the header flange or double up the gaskets.
    forged 383,9.6:1,280xfi, trickflow heads,edlebrock lt4 intake,moser 12 bolt w/373

    GM's gaskets are aluminum.. I ran a set of them on my shortys and didn't have any issues.

    Some pretty good advice in this thread so far. Make sure you are following good practices when installing the headers in terms of the bolt patern when tightening the headers down, heat cycling them, etc.
