For the record, Corbeau sets reclining mechanism is weak. I dont even think the teeth on the gear could have been 1/8th inch. He hit the gas and they just sheered off. Grated I am a good 350 pounds. But still lol
Claytons for the win. They havent built me a motor yet but have helped me with other issues and I always come out knowing more than I walked in with.

what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that allow me to do with things that would be a nightmare for people like you.

I dont know I have had cheap racing seats in the past, then I bought those corbeaus from work as a return because they were two left side seats.

Oh come on Chris, that was classic. The look on both our faces. Then you holding the seat up while I drove you home to getting pulled over by a state trooper in the Fricken middle of nowhere just cruising along. I was not having the best day.

I was detained for a bit that particular evening.

No, you might want to rethink that. I have a whole spreadsheet worth of engine data including rod ratios from engines ranging from several years of formula 1 motors, to 600cc bikes, to comp eliminator, to several years of nascar motors. There is no trend on rod ratio. NHRA pro stock is about 1.7:1 right now, the mountain motor IHRA stuff is less than 1.3:1 (only the quickest NA cars in the world) and they're turning over 8000 RPM. What do you think a good average piston speed is for an undervalved 840 cube motor? Funny they're still running such short rods

If you would like to compare apples to oranges that's fine. The are reasons the set ups you posted about run a shorter rod. I posted a response to a "street driven" 355 the op wanted to know. Not a max effort set up which would include the extra beef required on the piston. How do you make a stout piston for engines you listed? You keep the pin down out of the rings.....when that's done obviously the rod gets shorter. We are not talk here about a run it a season only and rebuild it motor. Again, a simple, cheap, cost effective way to build a street engine that makes good power and tons of torque. That is what's fun on the street and not spending its life at the top of the rpm band to make that power and torque.

That is most defintely NOT the reason why the rod ratios are less

Why would a higher rod ratio benefit him if it's a lower RPM motor?
It's not apples to oranges, I can post high BMEP engines that use quite a large rod ratio. I can post higher BMEP engines that use less rod ratio, alot of them being 24hr endurance type motors where parts failure is a BIG concern. There is no rhyme or reason, and if you cam a 5.7" rod correctly and compare it to a properly cammed 6.125" rod motor you'll see extremely small differences.PRO-JECTIONENGINEERING
