Default suggestions needed on how to quiet exhaust!!!

    i have a 97 lt1 ss
    stock manifolds
    stainless works o/r y-pipe
    slp1 resonator
    factory 2otl muffler

factory y-pipe is not an option its rusted out

car is just too loud, and when you downshift or let off the throttle when slowing down it sounds terrible ,,almost v-6ish or dump truck-ish,,,hope that makes sense.

im looking for something to put in place of the slp1 ,,,ive tried a slp2 bullet, a dynomax bullet and a moroso spiral flow and not much change with either?

replace the slp1 with a high flow catalytic convertor. Put exhaust tips on that aim down toward the pavement it absorbs some of the sound.

Mine has a dinky 2.5" Catalytic Convertor a full size 3" or Dual 2.5" High Flow or Standard acts like another
muffler in the system could replace with a perforated glass pack or Moroso Spiral Flow Muffler.

The quietest mufflers are Stock, Borla XS turbo, and Dynomax Turbos. IF manifolds are stock they are quieter than headers have and exhaust shop make 2.5" Downpipes to the Y .

BTW. if you want to replace the slp res. since you dont have much space look into the Magnaflow "round" MUFFLER(or something comparable). basically takes up similar space as the res. but absorbs more sound.
