2for1 special. Domestic and Import+bonus
So...it's been a very long time since I raced someone outside of my friends on a deserted strip or the dragstrip. Anyways, on to the story...
Two nights ago, I was headed to work, which requires taking the freeway to get there. Fortunately, there wasn't too much traffic. Anyways, while I'm on the freeway, I notice a mid 90's Mustang. I'd say 94-95. It also had a 5.0 badge, which tells me it had to be pre 96. Anyways, it looked pretty nice, Fat wide tires in the back and had a really loud exhaust!
When I see the mustang, I gun it for a second past him and then slow down for him to catch up...We line up at about 55 or so, he honks and gets the jump, and for a second I was like "Oh Sh**" because I could hear some really loud exhaust noises that sounded like a turbo. As soon as I heard him shift, I was already two cars ahead and by the time I hit 100 I must have had 10-15 car lengths on the Mustang. I got pretty far ahead. He obviously had some exhaust leak, which is why I thought he had a turbo. After I slow down, I notice a souped up S2000 flying from the on ramp onto the freeway to catch up to us. He must have seen us...
Now, this time the S2000 is right behind me and I'm next to the mustang for the second time. So, this time I honk, and I immediately take off from both of them, leaving them in the dust! Felt great to smoke them btw. I probably got to 135ish and then shut down they were way behind me... I just sort of coasted, and then I saw the Mustang and the S2000 line up. I watched in my rear view and could see the Mustang barely pulling on the S2000.
Bonus...
Last night...same scenario, but not as exciting, I was on the freeway when a newer 09+ Evo or rally edition lancer pulled up next to me. The passenger was waving me down to race him, I was surprised, but I did it. And I really put a spanking on that car. I'm guessing it was the base turbo model, not the actual Evo though. Because I'm pretty sure an EVO could have held its ground for a little bit. Each time I raced, I was in a meaty, torquey part of the powerband.
It was fun. All drivers and their passengers gave me a big thumbs up and I think I surprised all of them and myself by how badly they got smoked!1997 Trans Am M6 13.9@100 bone stock
