    wow this is all real impressive. Question, can a opti be used with a carb set up? rather than remove it weld the hole and install a std sbc distributor still retain the use of it? May be a dumb question but I am new to chevy and GM stuff.

    Half the benefit of converting to the carb setup is so that you can use a conventional distributor.

    i actually just did this with mine.......the opti shit the bed on me at the end of last year and I'm tired of spending two hours to change a cap and rotor..........i weleded up the hole and im runnin an MSD Cam Sync out back now......now i can change cap and rotor in 5 minutes .....and no i cant see any way of using an opti with out an ECM and with a carb setup......unless you go crank trigger to an MSD box and just use the opti for sending the spark like i was doing.....
