I know this thread is old but i made an account just so i could reply and say our cars could pass as twins. Just wish i had found this sooner. Would have rocked having two matching 96 M6 WS6s, both black on black ttop cars.

Thanks. Nice ws6 yourself. Glad you bought it back. Still have the torque thrust? Any info on mods? Im planning a 396 lt1 build topped with a s/c and doing a s60 rear

No I sold the torque thrusts... this car seems to change shoes twice a year LOL. Mods are pretty much the same as listed in the original post....cam, headers and whatnot. Right now it is sort of under the knife... I am building a Ford 8.8 rear end with 4.30 gears to put under it, getting some stainless headers, getting a different set of rims. Next major mod will be 150shot of nitrous which will put me at the limits of the stock shortblock and I will run that until it blows...hopefully to break 10's in the 1/4.

If going with a s/c I would just go with a forged 355... but I would go turbo instead. May end up doing that a long long ways down the road if mine ever blows

Well i was doing research earlier on this and i found a website that sells a 396 LT1 long block. Its really not that much more for the complete motor than it was gonna cost me for a procharger kit. I dont really know how reputable they are but it doesnt seem like to bad a deal. The procharger kit was gonna run me like $6200 before shipping because if im gonna shell out money for a s/c i was gonna get the polished parts and twin highflow intercoolers. They claim a 55-60% hp gain which would be 488 give or take if im doing my math correctly. The 396 cost me $8300 which is only about $2000 more but im getting a mostly complete motor and they claim 550 hp at 6300rpm and 490 ft/lbs at 4000rpm. They claim it makes that power on pump gas and that its still very streetable. I dont know if thats with a factory intake or what but if i can get over 500hp on a n/a motor running pump gas it almost seems the way to go. Cause if i was gonna make any power with a s/c or t/c for that matter i would have to go through my block anyways so theres always that added expense. I dont think i could build my stock lt1 into a s/c motor and make that kind of power for that money.

What do you think about it? They seem to be a very reputable company they have many testimonials from 4th gen fbody owners. I havent put the name of the site or company because i know some forums the companys sponsoring the forum get upset and i dont know how this forum is yet lol

I dont really have the experience to give you much advise on that kind of setup... I would do a whole lot of searching and reading... I think you could make that kind of power a lot cheaper... but it doesnt sound like you are on much of a budget.

Not really. This is more of a wish list im comprising for next summer. Money wont be an issue by then and the car is getting something done big time. I know for sure a S60 is going in and i kinda want to do a motor swap to put the factory lt1 up just in case oh say 30 years from now its worth big bucks. Cause think about it 60s and early 70s muscle cars were just cars once apon a time also. Im wondering if your right on the just getting a block and building my own but that company offers a 3 year warranty and i think it would be so much more of a pain when i can just order the engine and swap it in instead of hoping this part works with that one. Plus if i do it that way i can have the car in and out in one weekend and it not be a big dragged out ordeal. My dad has a lift and everything so it wont be that bad to swap the motor and rear in and upgrade the clutch while im there and strange sends their rears pretty much ready to go besides brakes. Im just pondering motor options and if there is a good tranny upgrade for the t56. Havent really looked into that yet. If i dont do all of this imma sell the car and get a 06 LS2 gto. I know they arent that fast but i just love the way they look in orange with the sap front lip, grilles, and 18 inch beyern 5s. Plus its a bigger more comfortable car lol.
