I wish my car HAD fog lights, haha.

Or a spot to even install one.

My only question is how could the stripped gear cause the lights to pop up? I do know that the fog lights are wired to stay on with the high beams.

I have no idea why it does it, but i know it does. I've had my car for almost 6 years and i've had to replace the drivers side gear a couple of times and flip the passenger side gear once. Every time my headlights started grinding, they would pop up with the foglights.

Your foglights shouldn't stay on with the high beams unless someone wired them that way. they aren't wired that way from the factory because IIRC it's illegal to drive with your high beams and foglights on.
