the coolant sensor on the head isn't just for the guage. Without it being plugged in or connected it will send a default signal to your computer, which on some diagnostics would tell you that the car is thinking its -40 degrees outside. And in that case its trying to warm itself up, idle high, load up with fuel. Instead of getting a head ache over checking everything and worrying, give yourself a headache by going to some local garages, seeing if they have a good diagnostic scanner, and offering him some money to swing by your place and do a code read. I think in the long run it will help you out financially and ease some stress haha. A good diagnostic like the Snap On solus pro or one comparable to that will tell you everything about whats going through your computer. Unfortunetly not all garages have those because of the cost, but you'll never know unless you go around and check.

ok, i replaced the sensor for the guage in the head for the temp of the coolant., ran the same, replaced the opti. was gettin a code for that.. fixed that. ran the same. checked the timing while i was down there. looked good. now the SES light only comes on for things i have deleted. only thing i can think of is the valve lash is way too tight. or off by alot. how do i set it while it is running?

    thanks guys!
