When will gears start to whine if installed wrong?
I just got done swapping out my broken posi for an eaton S10 posi. It's quiet and noise free from what I've heard so far. Probably a 5 mile drive. I've done 3 or 4 posi removals now and never had a problem with bad re-installs. So am I out of the woods yet? Should I keep listening or should they have immediately started making noise.
Btw, the S10 posi works great and for the first time since I've owned my Firebird, it feels good to leave twin black streaks.1994 TRANS AM GT: A4,3.23 / Cai / Borla exhaust / Strano Springs / Koni Yellows

I figured it would be immediate, but I didn't want to get my hopes up. Now I put in 3 full bottles of GM rear end fluid and the bottle of posi additive. Should I put in more until it comes out of the fill hole? Last time i did it on my car, it only needed 2.5 bottles.
But the car feels soooooo much better now. I really hope my 60fts improve.1994 TRANS AM GT: A4,3.23 / Cai / Borla exhaust / Strano Springs / Koni Yellows

Yes, the fluid should come out of the fill plug. My 4.10s whine a little bit but what do you do?

Some aftermarket gears whine. Is it consistent? Who did the install? How'd the pinion bearing look? Is the differental fluid good?

I did the install. The gears looked fine. The magnet inside had no shavings of metal at all since the last time I was in there. What I did was swap out my broken diff for a different one and resused my ring gear. So there was no gear swap. The fluid was less than a year old. I had to put in a new lug bolt on one of my axles and because it has traction control, the little gears on the end didn't give me the access I needed. So I had to remove the axle.
So do these thing need 4 bottles of axle lube? Should I get another Posi additive instead of another bottle just for extra precausion?1994 TRANS AM GT: A4,3.23 / Cai / Borla exhaust / Strano Springs / Koni Yellows

NO! Only 1 bottle of additive. And just use the regular GL5. Dont use anything synthetic.

Ok but I'm just curious, what would happen with 2 bottles of posi additive? I'll get another GL5 tomorrow.
