the camaro lt1 guys can at least put different bulbs in by breaking the seal and using the silicon method. the popup headlight guys are just screwed with a true sealed housing. i would love something like this

It has been done before for Firebirds. As the OP posted someone has already made some custom HIDs with projectors. I have seen more than a couple guys with LS1 birds do it as well.
Like this guy,

Its just a PITA to do custom wise, and to my knowledge no one has mass produced any for the public.
As you mentioned, us 93-97 Camaro guys can instal HID's by breaking the bulbs, but the real problem is getting projectors in there. Some guys have done that as well, but no one to my knowledge has made a rectangular headlight with a projector in it for us 93-97 Camaro guys that want to keep the original look of the headlights like the OP wants to with the Firebird lights.
In all cases, for both Firebirds and Camaro's, someone should mass produce interchangeable Projectors with HID's for the same sized stock light housing. Again, its just a PITA.1995 Z28 - disfunctional now, perhaps insane after its "treatment"

i think that looks just gross imo. i agree someone should produce it but i doubt it will happen sadly with the economy situation

The lens on the stock housings fuck up the beam pattern too. Even if you stick an HID in there and RTV it, it won't look as good as a clear lens. If anyones gonna produce swap in HID's, they need to have a clear lens and a projector for me to ever want to drop the coin on them. Because the stock lenses are ugly as crap, and the lighting sucks.

I couldn't agree more. I currently have HID's in stock style LT1 Camaro housings, and the light output is much better, but the clarity and the aiming of all the extra light sucks.
Hopefully someday when I'm not so insanely busy, Fastbird and I can finish the Camaro lights for our project.

I love the way his car turned out. I begged him with cash (a bit of it too), to make me a set for my bird, but he said "no". It was too labor intensive and not worth it to him.
But, not for everyone I guess.1995 Z28 - disfunctional now, perhaps insane after its "treatment"

Hell I would be willing to cut into my front bumper to figure a way to mount those where the head light pockets on my car are......

Guys, sorry I have not been active for the last week or so. School is taking up much of my time. I will be moving on to the next stage soon, just need to make a couple of lens molds and try some different approaches for consistency. Vacuum tables are cool
