I just put a 94 lt1 in my 96 roadmaster. It started right up and ran for 3 min then died as iff it has died of gas. Now it will only crank. I have swapped the timing cover and knock sensors and opti from the 96 motor onto the 94 motor. Please help need my baby back
Did you use the 94 harness? The pins for the knock sensors are in parallel on one pin with obd1 and series on separate pins with obd2.

Did you check the fuel pressure?
The knock sensors were switched over so I can keep everything 96
I dint have tools to do that so I was going to troubleshoot all else first.
You could've switched the knock sensors but the wiring could still be different. What year harness did you use?

Not saying it is fuel pressure related, but highly possible,.....its just the basic step on any "no start" issue. Check fuel and spark. That later is more involved because of the several areas of a ignition system that can cause no start
I was just told that a caprice lt1 will not work in roadmaster apparently roadmasters arnt compatible with the other lt1s
You were misinformed. An LT1 is an LT1 - they didn't make different engines for Roadmasters. (There is a 4.3 LT1 and a 5.7 - did you check to see which one you have?)Quote:

Dont have money right now to get pressure checker. But I smell gas iut the pipe and see sime exhaust. But my a and d terminals on my icm harness has no volt.
Check coil, opti, your main ignition fuse and ALL ignition wiring. You've found why its not running - now you have to figure out why its happening.Quote:

Ok checjed a and d terminal on harness going to icm I have no volts coming from a and d. I do for b and c though. Put car in diognostic mode.
And agot codes under 03.... they were 61 62 161 and 162
On the ICM, pins A and D are 12V DC, supplied by a fuse. Check the fuse. On an F-Body it's under the hood... don't know about the B-Body.
Pin C is a ground. It should not have any voltage on it (if you put one lead of the meter on pin C, where did you put the other lead?). Measure ohms from pin B to a good ground. Should read close to "0" (key off).
Pin B is the pulse signal from the PCM that tells the ICM to fire the coil. Did you measure it with the engine cranking? You have to measure that with the AC Volts scale. What value did you get?

What year PCM are you using? 2-digit codes would appear to be OBD-1. OBD-2 are 3- and 4-digit codes.
How did you put the PCM in diagnostic mode? What scanner did you use? DTC 61 is for the A/C system, there is no DTC 62 for an F-Body, is there one for a B-Body?
On a buick roadmaster you can run diagnostic codes through your climate control you dont need a scaner
O yea I think I figured it out so the mechanic said it ran for 3 min the bogged out like it died of gas when I thought of that I figured hey run diagnostic codes through the climate cintrol and I got under secti9n 03.... the codes were 61 , 62, 161, and 162 which pretty much all said fuel and stuff. So u pulled the fulle rail and injectors and saw a tinnnnny bit of gas leak down the 3 injector..... put a rag und 1 , 3 and , 5 and 7 and cranked car no fuel on rags. So I pulled rags to see if I saw any on engine manifold cranked car saw none.. so I pulled the 3 injector and boom gass cam gushing out the rail.. I have come to the conclusion that the little kicks id hear when I open throttle to wide open was the little tiny bit of gas droppung. So I am going to swap fuel rails since I cant get my 96 injectors into my 94 fuel rail. But I need help figuring out how to get the fuel li e hoes off the rail... can anyone help...Quote:

I really want to learn more about this diagnostic system, because I've never seen it before.
I went back and double checked but im going back to car to runn all codes. But yea you just hold the off button and temp up and the climate control shows you your diagnostic codes.
And apparently I can check the temps of all sensors and checj my rpm since roadmasters dont have a rpm tach and I guess I can check my mph if that tach goes out.
Ok guys I put the old injectors back in and cranked it but still saw no gas coming coming out onto the rag but I see gas on floor when I cranked it without the injectors olugged into harness and I see it all over the line going to the fuel rail so today I will swap covers and hopefully that gets it.Quote:
