juat got back from the track a little bit ago. On my second run, which is a new personal best, 13.64@104.5, I got beat by a 93 camaro M6, and all he had was a k&n cai, no cat, and a flowbastard muffler, that's it, and ran a 13.45@103.9 WFT?????? I still think that the car had different gears, the damn thing still had manifolds and the stock tailpipes, what the hell???
I have seen a couple 93's that seemed quite a bit stronger than equally modded newer cars.
What about weight? What wheels and tires did yours and his car have?
some cars run better than others.
how was your 60'? Either way your car should be in the low 13's or high 12's with traction.
he had stock salad shooter with the stock size tire, and I have z06 replicas with 275 nt555's, the street tire, not the drag radial. My 60' was a 2.18, and his was a 2.02. before we ran we were talking and he told me he was on the stock clutch and could smell it each time after a run, it was also lowered it that means anything, he said it was cheapo 1.8" ebay drop springs that the guy he bought it off of had put on it
My buddies 93 has a CAI, 4.10 gears, and slicks and he could almost nail the 12s every time.
He then realized how weak the 10 bolt was, several times :)

93's are the fastest,its a fact!
I say that was a drivers race. Can you post the timeslip? We might be able to tell if it was a HP race or just better driving.

I'm not the best, I can't launch the car very well, but I can grab the gears better than most I know. I think his clutch was slipping a lot off the start, or somewhere, cuz he was telling me that he smells clutch bad after each run, and if it's slipping on the launch, then that's why he 60' better than me. The guy that was there with him got the run on video and was sayin he was gonna post it youtube so I'll try to find it later, here's the slip.

Your mph was a little higher which would indicate to me that you have more power, but since you both drive M6 cars, and he out ET'd you and out-60 footed you, you simply need more practice, or need to let him drive your car, lol. j/k!

Looks like the old rule of thumb of a .1 better 60ft is worth about .2 at the finish line.

my car doesn't really hold to that, wish it did, but it doesn't, on my other runs I had a 2.34 60'/13.86@103.36(first run) and a 2.22 60'/13.72@104.47(last run), maybe it's me that doesn't really hold to that, I don't know.Quote:

Definitely get some tires on that car! I can squeeze deep 1.90 on my street tires (and these tires suck!) reasoning in how my car almost went 12's and I beleive you have a couple more goodies than me just by reading your sig.
yeah you def have more power than him, but not very much. Maybe 15hp by the looks of it. I too cant beleive some of the times those 93s put up

he cut a good light and has a runner for minimal mods.. a better launch on your part (or tires for that matter) and you would edge him out
My first thoughts were.. Was the car black? Because they are proven to be much faster than any other color f-body. :secret:. But then I saw it was red in your video so that ruled it out. :laugh:

1993 FTMFW!! My homemade CAI, !cat, Hooker muffler car went 13.2 with a 2.01 60'. I am M6 with 3.23 rear gears. Since the new mods i have goan a lot slower, i need the driver confidence mod to be more consistant. the fact is red 1993 M6 is teh fastest

You keep saying gears... could you tell where he was shifting compared to you? Seems like you would be able to tell if he was matching your shifts.
I just watched the vid again and paid attention to the first shift since it's audible, and I short shift it at 5700 instead of running it out a little more, and I'm sure being stock he shifted there too since that's stock redline, and you can hear both cars shift at the same time. Damn, never knew that the 93's with the m29 were the same as the later cars with 3.73's, cool.

nope, not at all, 2.18 60', and my best 60' is 2.12. the car launches so much better on the street than at the strip.

My recommendation to you would be to just keep practicin' and also get that thing tuned if you haven't already. You're definitely not getting the full benefit of those mods if you lack a tune currently.
Obviously slicks are a logical step to take here as well, but you said it yourself, no busted rear-end so thats out lol.
dont worry too much...not all 93s are that quick. with my listed mods my best run is a 14.2. but its also getting close to 200,000 on the clock and the last owner beat the hell outa it.
Dont the 93 T56s have a short first gear too?
