Project; "BEATERBIRD"

So I am back in the game with a 1994 firebird formula black with t-tops. Car has a rough body ... but under the hood is bone freaking stock. So yeah It sat for a few months apparently... it smokes a lot when I get on the gas ... tomorrow its getting washed for the first time in a while ... I'll up load pictures tomorrow. Car has 163, XXX miles but it starts right up ...has a blown exhaust manifold gasket on the passenger side. Power steering has a major leak ... I put a quart in it and after a few miles it had dumped it all. And it seems a little down on power but I may have just forgot how sluggish the stock car can be compared to a full bolt ons car with a 125 shot. ... so plugs, wires, a good cleaning inside and out ... I am hoping that the car don't need rings or valves.

Oh, a totally cool thing is I found the stock key fob for the keyless entry and the car has an entire full spare interior all the plastics, steering wheel, colum door panels rear hatch cover .... I got a good deal I feel.

My youngest brother and I don't have a very poor relationship and he's getting tired of his current vehicle so I told him if he and I can rebuild the motor together then put it in the car he can have it. All he wants to do is a camshaft but since I have the block out and fully disassembled ... it needs a line bore for the mains because of the damage crank. I'm also going to have them take out . 030 so its going to be a 355 stock crank and rods.

It started with one v6 tail light and one grid but in the trunk I found a second v6 tail light so I'm going to run those for the added sleeper look.

Man, that thing is rough looking...

it is but for $600 ... hey it starts right up and drives.

$600 for a working drivetrain, yeah, I can't knock that. And with the sleeper/beater look, you don't have to do much to it in that aspect lol. Just make it go fast and shock some haters. You'll be the next @OVA1 lol.

Wait, which motor are you rebuilding for your brother... or is this a whole nother car you are ref to?

I am giving the white 95 to my Lil brother under the condition that we rebuild the motor together. The motor that spun 4 rods and the mains. The block need machine work but I have a full rotating assembly ready to go.

Understood. Just thought you would BUILD your white one which you have history with.. maybe the black one for him. Not saying there is a right and wrong... just wondering why you went the way you did.

black car is in a rough shape ... makes for a better sleeper plus i like dark color cars better ... dont get much darker than black paint.

Okay guys here's an update so I drove the car up to O'Reilly's let me let me work on it in the parking lot for 2 days. In those two days I change the oil, spark plugs, wires, exhaust manifold gaskets and put pacesetter long tubes on. the reason that it was down on power three of the wires practically fell off of the opti and two separate ones were burned all the way to the metal. Then the front 3 spark plugs were regular Auto lite on the driver side all the others we're completely different brand and we're platinum plugs.

And now time for the stupid stuff... So once I was finished I got really excited and ask the store owner if I could do a burnout as he turned a blind eye. He said no because he
REALLY WANTED to see you burn out after me doing all that work. So he would be out front watching also. So I do a decent size burn out in front of the store with open headers. stuff like that does two things really well first off it's really good at getting people excited second of all is good at getting people's attention not always the attention that you want. So immediately after the burn out I'm still in the parking lot and I'd Drive back behind the store to where my car was to finish cleaning up. As I am pulling back into my spot I've been for 2 days. I get pulled over.

So the officer walked up to me and asked for my drivers license and insurance. I hand my drivers license to him and he says I bet you don't have insurance because your tags expired I told the officer yes that is true and that I had purchased the car 2 weeks ago and I haven't had time to get that car insured and the tags updated. Then he began to explain all stuff he could do because I'm doing burnouts in a car with no exhaust with out of date tags and no insurance. he said that I have my head up in my ass and I needed to pull it out. I told him yes I understood it was stupid and that I simply got overly excited after working on the car for 2 days and having it running. He walked back to his car with my license I'm sure he was just checking if I had warrant out for my arrest, when he came back he handed me my license ask me where I was taking the car to and told me to drive there safely and pull my head out of my ass. It was very nice of him to give me just a verbal warning. But I don't think you could have actually given me a ticket because I don't believe the road I was on when he stopped me was a public street. I believe it was a private drive for the businesses in area. So the officers walking back to his vehicle and I say to him now comes the embarrassing part. and he turned around quickly as if I just insulted him. He then asked me what did you say . And I repeated myself saying now comes the embarrassing part and he asked me oh what's that ? In my nervousness about getting pulled over I forgot to turn off my headlights the battery that's in the car I pulled out of the white Firebird so it didn't have very much of a charge. So while he was running my name my battery died. So then I told the officer my battery died and I need a jump. What was his response you may ask he laughed loudly at me got in his vehicle and drove away. Thankfully the guy that took the picture and was helping me gave me a jump. I got the car running properly and couldn't even make it 200 feet without getting pulled over.

Today I got the drag wheels put on the rear and work some magic with 3 cans of plasti dip

looks pretty good. how much of the car could u cover with three cans.

all of it ... the whole car ... just one coat ... but i want one more coat.

I was never too fond of plastidip but it is definitely an improvement over what is underneath. Good job!

Oh.. so its a light coat? @JCZNova can tell u how hard it is to remove if the coat is to thin.

Um yeah, less than 4-6 coats and you will kick yourself in the ass if you ever go to peel it off. It will stretch and break for the next week of your life. There are removers that liquefy it to be sprayed off but that doesn't make the process much easier or faster.

so i took the car to the track to the track yesterday ... all it has done to enhance performance is pacesetter headers installed then drag wheels and tires. then a little diet at the track and here are the results:

so at this point i let the car cool off in hopes of going in the 13's with basically a stock car ... so i start gutting out the car ... took out the passenger seat, rear seats, seat belts, all the rear carpet in the hatch area, and cut the carpet to where it still is in the feet area behind the front seats but from where the rear seat cushion bolts on back the carpet and sound mat stuff was all cut out. I took out all the plastic except center console and A-pillars. under the hood all i did was remove the filter box and after 1 hour and 11 min I made a 4th pass of the night.

the 1995 i have also had shitty 60's what are some good ways to get it down? i mean i have tires that hook 28" MT DRAG slicks so i know i am not spinning and i love the stance of the car with those tires ... plus i have 2.73 gears and i am liking them. so i also have a vig stall that is a single disk 3000 stall in the 95, i am thinking about getting that restalled a little bigger and going to a triple disk so on cruises i can get a little better mpg when it locks up ... but with 28" tall tires and 2.73 gears where do yall think i should get it stalled to? 3200? 3600? 4000? i will be spraying nitrous on the car so the stall has anti ballooning plates in it already.
