I never have. What gasket maker are you using? I use loctite and never had an issue.
I used black RTV the first time. That was almost 70K miles ago. This time I'm using Right Stuff.
I use rtv straight from home depot

Original factory seal did not leak. Engine was puled at 60K miles for stroker build. Assembled with Permatex Ultra Copper RTV. No leaks 12 years later, not a lot of miles on it. The copper RTV has the highest temperature resistance, and very good resistance to oil.
Its all about getting it in the right spot.
I've always used black rtv on well cleaned surfaces and thrown down a fat bead, then allow at least 12 hours to dry. I've done numerous LT1's and small block chevy's and never had one leak. Be sure to lay the bead then put the intake manifold gasket down, then put some rtv on top of the gasket in the corners too, and be sure to set the intake down where it needs to be!
Permatex ultra copper here. Never a leak on any I have built through the years.
Just sealant.
When I put the intake back on the last time, I think I slid it a bit and pushed the RTV out. Bolts were slightly loose but not enough to break the seal.
If you were at the dyno day, you probably remember smoke bellowing out from under the hood of the car on the dyno. :p
I know you were, I meant anyone else that may have been there :p
No more leak! Now I need to do a tune up.
Ive pulled my intake atleast 5 times. Ive never had a problem with Ultra Black. Be sure to put some under the intake gasket tab at the front and back of the head and then again ontop. and be sure to let it get alittle tacky before putting the intake back on. When it is back on, put in the bots but do not tighten them. Screw them in to make sure the intake is seated, and then leave it for afew hours then lock it up. That way you give the silicone chance to cure and create a gasket.

Are u using the gaskets on the front and rear or just the sealant?
There are no gaskets on the front and back walls.
When you install the intake, use dowels in the bolt holes on one side, to prevent the manifold from shifting as it goes down on the RTV. I've seen people wait 24 hours before restart.
Has anyone tried dimpling the top of the block walls and the bottom of the manifold? I've seen people recommend that, but have never seen anyone post the results.
My mistake... I thought when we put mine back together last time the intake gasket kit came with two longs and two shorts... I dont use the shorts either way.... Just sealant.

I have done a dozen or so with Mr gasket intake gaskets and a thick bead of aerosol Right Stuff, never had one
leak.
I also heard about taking a punch and creating "dimples" in the "china wall" along the back of the block and intake manifold to give the RTV a little bit more "bite" into the block when it seals.
always used black RTV never had a leak... even under boost.
