I'm not real big into cigars, have the occasional It'saboy while playing golf etc. The only ones I've really enjoyed were some cubans I picked up on our cruise this past summer.

I wouldn't say I'm an avid smoker, I'm still new to cigars but I do enjoy them. I like arturo fuente, monte cristos, and romeo y juliettas. Punch is OK. Rocky Patels are decent too. Most of the cigars I've smoked have been good. I had a couple Acid wafes the other weekend and they were good but my wife complained more than usual about my cigar stench when I came back in the house.
For Christmas I asked for a humidor so I don't have to smoke the cigars so quickly. This time last year I bought a 20 pack of JRCigar.com brand cigars and I still have a few of those left... they're getting to be harsher and harsher to smoke since they're getting so dried out. They're still a good smoke, though - especially coupled with some hard cider.
I have been smoking cigars for about 15 years now. I started when I was quitting cigarettes. I like cigars with a medium body and some flavor. Sometimes I will smoke Maduros but I prefer them a little mild. It is all on what your personal tastes are just like beer and liquor. There are some people that hate the flavored cigars. I like both traditional cigars and infused (flavored) ones. For traditional cigars I really like Perdomo, Alec Bradley, Emilio ( I know the owner), and for a treat I buy Don Carlos God of Fire. They are not always available and are $20-25 a piece. For infused I love the Drew Estate brands. Acid, Tabak, Ilse Del Sol, and Java Mint. I buy most of my stuff from my local place or Cigars International. Also if you like at Acid try Cigar Int Legends Copper Label. They are made by Drew Estates and $3.50 a stick. I just invested in a Xikar lighter and a travel humidor. I probably smoke 2-5 a month, more in the warm weather.

hope u got a bigger humidor then u thought ya needed. i got my first one a few months ago and just ordered another cause the first one got too small lol.
I have this Humidor, hands down best one I have owned and the price is great. It looks awesome filled up. http://www.cigarsinternational.com/p...-DISH75&cat=10 It says 75 count, but i have had over 100 in it. I also use the gel humidfirer in the plactic jar. I do have an electric humidifier in ther too for the really dry winter days in Delaware.

damn thats cheap!
Price is cheap and it is made in china, but it is good quality. 3 of my cigar smoking friends bought the same one after they saw mine.

does it hold round 70% humidity
I smoke Man O' War cigars. its a real strong cigar but is awesome. Also a fan of Victor Sinclair and Alec Bradley. Got a 10 pack of them in yesterday actually:)
I puffed on a black n mild the other day. I smoked cigarettes so long it feels wierd smoking something you dont inhale.
Holds 70 perfectly with my humidication devices. The humidity gauge is a POS but I put Walmart thermometer/humidity battery operated thingy inside.

Nice - I'll have to check those out. My father in law bought me a humidor for Christmas so now I finally can fill it. When you guys got your humidors did you have to do anything special to the hygrometer? The paperwork that came with the humidor talked about putting it in a bag with salt but my hygrometer is inlaid into the wall of the humidor -- can't remove it. I've been keeping the humidifier disk filled with the humidifier juice - it's been 24 hours and it's only at about 50 instead of 70.
Nice Gift! the hygrometers that come with humidors never seem to work right... if you cant get it out you are kind of screwed. You are supposed to put it in salt (or rice) to dry it out so it can "reset." I bought an electronic one ar Wlamart and put it in the humidor.
yea chances r the one that came with it will always be wrong. the last one i got ya can calibrate so thats nice
My bad - realized that the front mount hygrometer pops right out of the box. Thought it was mounted in better than that. Time to calibrate it and see how far it's off!
Here it is. Still got a few still to come in

for me, it mainly Acid's, but my Mom and Brother work at stores with HUGE humidors so they send me random cigars.

My favorites are Perdomo 10th Anv Champagne, Romeo y Julieta Reserva Real, and Casa Magna Domas Magnas Limitada
So I bought one of the recommended digital hygrometers but I can't get my humidor up higher than 50%? I calibrated the hygrometer with a bottle cap full of salt with just enough water that it'd be pasty and it read 77% so I clicked it two to the left. Popped the hygrometer into the humidor, topped off the humidifier with the humidifier juice and it's only reading 50-55%.
I did not season the humidor because the paperwork that came with it did not mention it - only mentioned how to calibrate the hygrometer and what humidifier juice is recommended. I guess it's a dumb question now that I type it out but should I season the humidor via instructions on the net or am I just doing something wrong? Could it be my dried out cigars are sucking in the humidity out of the air? I had cigars in their plastic wrappers (not sealed, just wrapped) for over a year sitting in a cedar cigar box (again, not a sealed box either) so I know they got dried out. Didn't think it took any science to this, thought it was just pour the juice in the humidifier and that was it
u need to season the humidor! and the cigars could be a on the dry side as well.
Started seasoning it last night - wiped it down around 4pm, and then again a few hours later around 8pm. I definitely noticed after wiping it down at 8pm that the humidity level was higher (77% finally!) so we'll see what the humidity level is today when I get home from work. I'm sure I'll have to wipe it down a few more times.
Definitely need to season a new humidor. It'll take a few weeks for the dry cigars to be completely humidified. Every time I buy a bunch of cigars it dries out the others.
I'm having a hell of a time trying to get it to maintain 70%. I took all the cigars out and put them in a ziplock bag. I've been wiping the humidor down every day and leaving a moist towel PLUS the humidifier full of fluid in the humidor and it's only reading 66% right now... :? It was a display model -- is it possible that it's just REALLY dried out? I mean 3 days and it won't maintain humidity...
the makers mark r real good. but id say cause of the price they r a special day/event kinda smoke.
so i smoked the Gurkha Titan to day and i was not impressed. its packed way too tight so it was hard to draw. it didnt hold ash much at all. and it lacked flavor i thought. so im not so sure bout the other Gurkha sticks iv got.
Someone mentioned putting salt into the distilled water to get it to 70% so I tried it. We'll see what it says when I get home from work today. Being a display model I understand that it probably sat open quite a bit but I didn't think it'd be this hard to get the humidity up to par. I haven't put the cigars into the humidor since I started seasoning it so if I can't get it close to 70% when it's empty I'm worried about how bad it's going to drop when it's full of cigars...
Just keep an eye on it, but open it as little as posible lol

Yeah the only time I've been opening the humidor is when I am adding more water, juice, or wiping the walls down. Otherwise I just put it on the table and forget about it.
You might need a second or larger humidity device.
I put the cigars in there and I'm seeing it keep a stable 59-60% humidity which is on the low side but still within range if I understand correctly. I'm wondering if I need to recalibrate my hygrometer again because I left it shut for a few days with the humidifier wet enough that I could see the juice puddled in it WITH the shotglass full of distilled water and a pinch of salt and I wasn't seeing either of them drying up at all... seems like the humidor just won't get to a 70% humidity.
try recalibrating the hygrometer. What is the RH% in your house now? It is dry in my house and even though i have the electronic humidifier in my humidor I am also using a gel jar to keep at 70%. Also if the cigars were dry before putting them in, they are going to suck up tons of moisture at first. Eventually they will equalize out. Dont get too agressive with the humidity when the cigars are in there, they will mold
