Calling all lt1(cam) experts!!!cc306?s :/
Well here's the deal. I've been searching and searching on the Internet and filling my brain with info on the infamous CC306 cam. And I think I'm to the point know where I have gather so much information I don't know what I know anymore. So I decided to do yet another thread about the CC306So here's my story. I'll try and make it short. A while back I got a cc306 and 1.6 RR. With a set of ported heads and intake. I no longer have the heads and intake as I decided I didn't want to tear that far into the engine. Well now here I am with the heads off of my car. Car is a 97. M6. Stock rear/3.42. Long tubes w/slp loudmouth. Ram air. 58mm bbk. msd opti....My dilemma is I have heard so many mixed reviews on running the cc306 in a stock bottom end and headed car. I do plan on port matching the heads and intake and cleaning them up a tad. Than I'm going to send them out to get them milled and have a valve job done(keeping stock valves). I'm going to use mr gasket head gaskets(the thin ones) to bump up compression along with the head milling to help with the cam.I also have access to a tuner who will be dyne tuning the car. I realize the cam works best with wicked flowing heads. And real high rpms. Unfortunately my budget is going to be maxed out with the head milling, valve job, head gaskets, and the rest of the bs to out it back together. My questions are. Is that enough head work/compression increase to compliment the cam compared to stock? The car may never see the track and is basically a "nice day" car for a few days a week to beat around town/highway in. Are you guys who are running a Similar setup, with similar usage happy? I talked to the Comptech line and told him basically what I stated above. he recommend I run the 306 and that with the correct tune it will be a blast for what I want to do. I just wanted to get some opinions from the ltx fam. And hopefully some more specific advice for my setup/needs.
