Ok I got a lt4 hot cam(586ca114 and 142L stamped on back) and gmpp 1.6 roller rocks in trade for working on a car they are used the only thing is the back of the cam looks like it has been drilled and taped just wondering if it would still be safy to use http://s61.photobucket.com/albums/h6...er_media_share Also what eles do need for this other than a tune and lt4 hot cam valve springs thanks guys
I dunno why the hole would be tapped. I don't see why it would be a problem, maybe someone else has more insight. As for springs, from what I researched on my cam swap, the lt4 springs were marginal at best. I am running a LPE cam similar to the hot cam and I am using crane double springs rated up to .600 lift. So far so good.
Ok so some .600 springs then what about pushrods are the specific ones or just lt1 push rods
DO NOT use the hotcam springs. They've been known to fail...a lot.
Good PAC or COMP springs will do the trick nicely. The tapped hole shouldn't affect anything, provided that there are no burrs sticking out of the hole. I'd go over that with some 1000 grit sandpaper or a fine sanding disc on a die grinder to make sure it's flush.
Pushrods are generally replaced with something aftermarket. The TrickFlow chromoly's seem to be the popular pick. Stock length is 7.2" IIRC, but you might want to pick up a pushrod length checker and verify what length you need before ordering pushrods.
i used LT1 stock replacement pushrods with my SA 1.6RR's. Seem to be fine. I think they were from NAPA. I bought a lot of stuff from NAPA and AZ for the rebuild.. I lost track. I know my motor had never been apart, so if you are not sure if yours has been, checking the length is a good idea.
Got it guys no lt4 springs guess this would be good time to replace the valve seat seals
Yes it is, I did mine. Now the blue smoke at cold start is gone. Also dimple the china walls before reinstalling the intake. I used the copper RTV for that area. Good time to check the oil pump drive too and water pump drive bearing. My pump drive was cracked and my WP drive bearing was noisy. The WP drive bearing is not that easy to find or cheap. Also good time to delete all the Air/EGR crap if you have not yet. shbox's cam swap guide was the best info I found. Good luck with the swap!Quote:

Also more pics and would cleaning the 1/6 roller in a ultra sonic bath hurt the bearings or cam thanks
