Im having oil pressure problems.As long as Im giving it gas I have a good oil pressure.As soon as I stop at a light or what ever.It goes to around 18 or 19.Does anybody have any ides on whats going on?

Gm says all the way down to 7 is acceptable... I think ur fine.
How many miles on the car... What weight oil are u using... How high is ur temp at the time u feel its "low."

on my fresh rebuild i made like 20lbs of oil pressure at idle and like 50lbs at a higher rpm. that was from 10w-30. i run 20w-50 now and make 28-30lbs at idle and around 70-80lbs in the higher rpms. all depends on your oil too
its when it gets below 5 PSI you worry. Cold I am 30-50 Psi.. Hot I have seen as low at 15-20
Yup that sounds normal to me.
I am 40-60 cold...as low as 20 when hot.... And im running a 15-30 synthetic.
Also... I got way up in parking lot car show traffic (100+ deg day) and i was down to 10.....
Its all good.

Hopefully you understand that oil pressure is related to engine RPM.... RPM goes up, oil pressure goes up.... RPM drops, oil pressure drops.Quote:

You're inside oil pressure gauge isn't the greatest measurer. Unless you put a mechanical gauge on it, you won't know exactly what oil pressure you have
Thanks again my friends.Im not use to these LT1 engines.Also I had a big oil leak around my timing chain cover.I got it fixed yesterday.
P.S.
I tore into that LT1 and it was a bitch to work with.I never been into LT1 engine.Theres alot of stuff to take off to get to that timing chain.WOW!!!!
