Most can be handled by pleading no contest and explainging your situation and that the issues have been fixed. He may throw them out all together, lower the fines (unlikely), or asses court costs (which are usually the amount of the citation) and withold adjudication on the points.
One thing to keep in mind is that there's a fine line betwen explaining your "situation" and trying to prove why you are not guilty. Unfortunately I have been in traffic court on more then one occasion (we'll just leave it at that:)). I have seen it MANY times where some one would plead no contest then try and prove thier case (1hottcamaro is guilty of this miatake:laugh:). The judge asks "so you are saying you didn't do it?" No, I...... "set date fro trial on x/x/x"
If you plead no contest just explain that you did not know the tag was dirty because the car sat and you have cleand it and everything is fully visible.
The same goes for the tires, you are not arguing that they were unsafe (legally they were), you just want to show him that they are fixed now.
You may just have to eat the exhaust ticket unless you can do somthing to quiet it down.
I thingk that it would be a bad idea to plead not guilty and try and deny the charges.
You also have to blame some of this on our economy. The county and state is doing WHTEVER they have to do to bring in more revenue. They are pushing for the cops to wright citations for anything and everything they can.
