So another update. Got a Navigation DVD drive from ebay for $150 (plus 10 shipping). USPS in their infinite wisdom made a less than 100 mile delivery stretch out to 5 days. Shipped Monday last week. Went from Findlay OH, to Columbus OH, to Toledo OH where it sat from the 28th to the 30th. Then nothing for 36 hours until it popped up in Indy on Friday evening, Fort Wayne on saturday morning, and delivered saturday. I could have WALKED from Fort Wayne to Findlay and gotten it quicker. But I digress.
It comes in, and I pop it in the car. No bueno. Won't take a DVD, no resistance at all when I try to put one in. Remove it, talk to seller, who informs me that a DVD was in it. Odd, because it didn't eject anything. Tried again, nothing comes out. Removed, and tilted, and got a 2008-2009 Audi Navigation OEM dvd to come out. Cool. So........me being me, I opened the unit up and tried to see what was wrong. Noticed a spring lacking any tension running across the front of the actual drive unit.
Right side, you can see the metal hook.

Left side, blech.....plastic. And a broken little tiny plastic tab, top left:

Talk to the seller, said he'd refund $75 if I want to keep and try to fix or have repaired, or I send it back and get a full refund. I fiddled with it and actually, by opening one end of the spring some to keep from over tensioning the accept/eject mechanism, wrapped the spring loop around the entire plastic arm. Works like a champ!
But here's the kicker. I downloaded an ISO for the 2013 Maps DVD, and it works. So I've got the 2008-2009 DVD for sale on ebay for $100 BIN or best offer (MANY have sold in the $120 range so I should get a bite).
I could LITERALLY make money by retrofitting the nav into the car. If the 08-09 DVD sells for $85 or more, I will make money having done this. Talk about scoring one for the good guys there! Doesn't happen like that for me too often.
