Run it, blow the fucking thing up.
So cars shouldn't have crankcase ventilation?
That is meant to prevent blow by
Which like I said, blow by is not something that SHOULD be occurring. And with gouges in the cylinder walls blow by will be inevitable
Edit: no more arguing damnit..
I understand that a small amount of blowby is going to occur and the PCV is meant to counteract that.. but that's when your cylinder walls are clean.. my situation is a bit different
Exactly. But an E-vac setup is pretty cheap and helps prevent blowby by regulating crankcase pressure. Racetronix makes a wiring harness for lt1's for $60 and that AIR pump you're selling would work perfectly for an e-vac setup. You'd just have to pop it open and remove the foam. The Racetronix harness has a switch that comes on at certain levels of boost so it doesn't burn up the pump. Thought I would share. I plan on doing an e-vac setup on my car.
The car should be a beast! I'm hoping to get my car on the road in the next couple weeks too.
Interesting, thanks for the info sir
I run the header style evac setup, and can maintain 8~9" of vac. from just off idle to redline.
It works rather well with my exhaust setup, but have been told that it doesnt work too well with the street style exhaust systems. i.e. pretty much any catback offered.
I think Im gonna get that racetronix harness its like 42$ before shipping and it looks all plug and play
Yea... it's been like a month lol no updates to speak of..
Starting tomorrow morning, my ass is getting back in gear and working on it.
I hope to get the longblock assembled tomorrow, possibly cut the hole in the hatch and get to gettin' on the double pumper.
School starts in 15 days so time is of the essence at the moment
Nothing like a short timeline for a huge modification list huh??? GL with it Ryan!
haha yea thanks... I'm gonna need it
Damn Ryan, better tighten up... the 300z is gonna be running before your turd. All I gotta do is drop the engine in and wire up some coils and a little tuning.
bah I know I fucking hate when this shit happens.
I wake up to a blinking alarm clock so idk what the heck happened cause I definitely had it set for 8am
Sorry Jon.
No more mess ups from me on that end, I think i found the wake up service my old roommate use to use that will call your cell phone until you answer

Woops I'm slow but I splurged a bit on new parts :)
I can't wait to see this project done! I had my engine out, rebuilt, and in within 3 months. Tick tock, tick tock! :tt2:
lol yea it's hard with school now, I only have the weekends to get over there and work on it...
I'm still waiting for the steam vent washer gaskets to come in
Had to get some shorter pushrods (7.050) and some gaskets and everything should be going together and done(?) by the end of September/beginning of October (crosses fingers)
Only things I should have to look into buying now is a catchcan setup and fuel fittings
yayyy lol
"did all the metal brackets crinkle black and all the alum stuff crinkle silver"
"got the k member clean and painted gloss black too"
No pics yet, I was busy all weekend, hopefully this weekend I can get over there and help.
Ran into a small snag with the dipstick but it's getting figured out. The engine bay should be getting cleaned today. Gotta helicoil one of the fuel rail bolt holes and get the intake on and it should be ready to go back in and get the IC piping fabbed up.
Dipstick is done. Combo trim and bend of the tube. Ill assemble everything in the morn and send you a few pics.
:-D thanks Jon... I appreciate it. I'm gonna try to get up there this weekend
Ran into a couple snags today which I'm posting another thread in engine tech about.
But mocked some stuff up and my roommate welded up a dump tube for my wastegate.

motor looks killer! cant wait to see the final product.
That filter will run into the radiator/fans. Put a 90 degree silicone connector to the compressor housing first.
i pm'd you back.
I'd be cautious using a silicone connector, even a 90* at the turbo. Call911's car was sucking a silicone 90* shut with his blower. I'd do a hard 90* pipe instead.
That looks real nice, bet you can't wait..........:D
Yea, manifolds are going back to RealQuick tomorrow for some cleanup and clearancing so it'll be a bit more, there's still a bunch of work we can do in the meantime though.
Should be fun, I had a lot of fun with my kit from RealQuick and 10's on stock heads/cam was a nice thing also, lol.
It's amazing how far my work has come since I built that kit 3 years ago LOL. I'll see if I can get some clean up work done on those mani's!
Are you doing push on hoses for the fuel system???
Worked on the car a bit today.. got some fuel fittings on, did the turbo oil drain and feed line and installed the mcleod adjustable master

Gotta get a few more fuel fittings. Didn't take any pictures of the mcleod unit because i was too frustrated after laying under the dash for 30 minutes trying to clip the safety clip that keeps the rod end on the clutch.
and I made a friend haha

Nice!
Nice build, lots of good work....
I can't wait to see some results on this project :)
dam at this pace ill have my build done first! and i haven't even started!!! lol
There was trouble getting the crank hub installed. Well apparently the one of the two keys that I didn't replace in the crank was too tall and not allowing the hub to go all the way down the crank so the front accessories gotta come off so the key can be removed. Most of the brand new gaskets will probably be fubared so I'm gonna need new ones.
Oh well. Just put in a nice order with Speed Inc for some goodies. Thanks Larry!
