What a load of crap. Sounds like that man has spent way too much time as an administrator and doesn't realize the toll workig the road takes on your body. There are people in police administration now who only wore handcuffs a six shooter and maybe a speed loader and wooden baton. When they worked the road, no Taser, steel baton/ASP, balistic vest, 2 15rd mags, 2 cuffs, radio, cell phone, etc.
If any of these people I speak of are reading this I invite you to get off your ass put on EXACTLY what your road guys are currently wearing and work the road for an ENTIRE shift not just a few hours. Then get back to me and tell me how you lower back, hips, and knees feel after you get in and out of the car 50+ times a shift. Oh don't forget about standing and sitting in the car uncomfortably for hours on end. Now take that one day and try to imagine doing it for years on end trying to maintain a positive attitude coupled with the daily stress of trying to help people who don't trust you. Maintain a balanced healthy home life despite long hours and varrying shifts, NOT your administrative 8-5, M-F. Then hear your "supporitve command staff" comment that because you are a human being and your body can actually get hurt your just a loaf lookin for a free ride. What a load of shit.
Sorry for the rant Popo but it pisses me off when I see administration in any profession become so detached from the employees who actually do all the work they've forgotten what day to day life is like and don't have any concept of modern police duty.
