Gap those rings for 25psi
It wasn't terrible, could certainly tweak things in retrospect but you buy the pipe, I'll advise.

@CPT has the trans updated/converted to 24x, new pro torque converter is in, and the mad scientist mr ellwein will be tearing into the motor hopefully this week.

Mr Karl Ellwein just shot me an email, stated engine looks perfect inside. bearing all looked good, little bit of skirt dirt so a quick hone and new rings should be good to go.

Karl posted up a 3 (or 4 part) vid of the engine teardown on his ellwein engines channel. said it looks basically brand new inside.
That was good news lol. hes got about 3 or 4 weeks until he gets back on it.

Those plugs looked dark, how rich were you idling and part throttle?
been a while. so karl reassembled the motor and dyno'd it. it made 15hp and about 20tq less everywhere than it made same everything except the le trickflow heads. karl heard a noise on the engine dyno he didnt like, and decided to pull the heads and check the piston side clearance again.
he found the gap was excessive, and believes the pistons are rocking alot in the bore/losing compression.
so he strongly suggested a piston swap to a mahle from the wiseco, but the problem is they wont ship until november. now we wait
i picked the trans/converter up from @CPT last month on the way back from the beach. really just need the motor back, and the d1 or f1a then can reassemble

another one havent touched in a while. due to the covid supply chain crap it took a long while to get the new pistons that Ellwein wanted to try. well the results dont lie, he was right, something was up with the engine.
521hp/514tq on motor with a 20 year old cola crank, some le trickflows, 4.040 bore and new mahle pistons, same cam etc.
originally it made 490/490 with le2's and same exact cam.
now we gotta get the motor from karl and then @Ltconvert has to decide on D1sc or F1A
