He's lived 3 houses down the alley from my parents for as long as I've been alive lol. He and my dad have helped each other work on cars back and forth, our cars when we needed help or tools, and cars he's worked on (he used to be a work-from-home mechanic, self-employed). Lol if it ever magically comes to Dallas, he might agree to go. He works 6, sometimes 7 days a week at GMG. Usually 14+ hr days too. They work those guys to the bone up there to churn out those cars that fast.

Lol yeah, I have no freakin idea how his mind works, but somehow he can come up with quips and jokes on the fly while shoulder deep in an engine and never slow down or miss a beat.
Got to hang out with Tom for a couple hours last night for the first time in quite a while cuz for once he was actually home lol. He just got a new puppy, too, ~8 week old pit bull mix. Sweet little dog :D Said he'd just got back from his first paid autograph signing, so I told him not to forget us little people now that he's big and famous lol. He's headed to New Orleans next week I think to film their Smokey and the Bandit spoof and he's Buford T. Justice, already has his lines memorized haha. Beyond that, he somehow got into a country/rap free flow battle with some band at a bar and they invited him to go record a song or two with them at Sun Records. Can't wait to hear that lmao. Was fun to shoot the shit with him again. Btw for any new readers to this thread, Tom Smith of Gas Monkey Garage is my neighbor and lives 3 houses down from us.

GMG, bough 14 COPO rolling chasis to make their own for customers. CUSTOM GMG COPOs!!!
Sure am...I always DVR it but was home tonight! If those COPOs were street legal...I'd have to find a way to obtain one. Only 5th Gen I like is the COPO.
GM has been selling the chassis for alittle while. Not street legal. I think all it has is a cage, 9 inch, special wheels.

You definitely have to have a true passion for wrenching to really love it there, what with the insane restore/build deadlines, long ass hours, and Richard's attitude, but it's a dream come true for Tom. He literally eats, drinks, sleeps, and shits cars haha. Come to find out, Jordan is the real master fabricator on the crew. Apparently he's taught Aaron some stuff about fabbing quite a few times.
