From what I've read the stock lt1 pcm will run the 4l80e. There's even a setting in tunercat to switch the operation of the shift solenoid that normally requires a relay. I know id have to make a new crossmember and probably a driveshaft. I know they're heavier but the idea of being able to handle 750 HP with nothing more than a shift kit and retaining overdrive is tempting.
Guard your meat, I'm coming to eat
Having an OD would be real nice. It would allow you to drive it and not worry about getting 8 mpg. Ive heard great things about 4L80's. Should be up to the task of your LT1

I've got the interior completely stripped out, all trim removed, anything that can be taken off is. Ive even taken the rear quarter windows out. Tomorrow im going to wire wheel and brush por15 on the floorpans. While that's drying I'm going to prep the back side of the doors, fenders and jams then edge them in with some basecoat/clearcoat. Hopefully I can get it all done tomorrow and be ready to reassemble Tuesday.
Damn...when u get goin on something... U fly thru it!

Not much to see today. I made the mistake of not masking off the dash and windows before I painted the floor so I couldn't spray the jams until it dries. I stripped the doors of all hardware and got everything prepped so its ready to shoot. I've got a pile of trim that I'm trying to decide what to do with. Its gloss black from the factory but I thought about spraying it metallic black to match the car. Only problem I have with this is I don't want anything on the car when I spray it so id have to paint it separately, so theres a chance that it might not match 100%. Thoughts?
