You would need to have the obd1 pcm modded for knock sensors, but idn if running it long enough to make everything kosher in the obd2 would hurt the trans as it does something to the 1-2 shift from what @Cahall has said.

The knock sensor in obd1 requires a different resistance than obd2

There is a way to modify the obd1 computer so you don t have to change the knock sensor. I would think that was done. Just requires soldering a resistor in it.

Its the LT4 knock module. Im telling u... thats what i did for my camaro. But I need to plug in for emissions so the obd 1 computer wont pass... no matter what. We tried with my camaro. Even had the vin and stuff flashed into the obd1 computer. So as far as Im concerned it is easier to turn the car back to the way it should be... and if I understood tubby, the trans needs a different valve body installed to make it work obd2 ( @Cahall ) may be able to clarify that for me as well as let me know if the trans can handle light usage the way it is after reverting the car back to obd2...
