Beware of Pacesetter LT's!!

Yeah I've read that one at least 5 times lol. Your be secretif on the cam specs but I'm sure they are on the mark Sheperd's. Did you do the motor yourself and everything else??? I also have a 396 except I'm single plane and may be running more compression. Matt has gotten me addicted to weight reduction as well!!

I'm surprised you are still on pacesetters. Do you plan on trying something bigger?

I know you aren't spinning crazy high, but I'd still expect that motor to want a bigger primary header. I'm thinking of some stepped 1 7/8-2" with a 3.5" collector for my motor, but I will talk to the guys at Lemons first and see what they say. My heads are bigger then yours though and since they were on a big turbo car the exhaust ports are hogged out like hell. Not ideal for my lil NA build but they should work :).

sorry i got into a big battle on cz28, went from shorty 1 5/8 edlebrocks to 1 3/4 flps on a hot cam and stock heads and really gained nothing. dyno chart moved around a little but trap was the exact same.

I had the machine shop assemble the shortblock I have done everything else

Sweet! That car is wicked. I'll have mine up in college station around January 14th and will probably run out at little water or motorplex

I would have liked to try a set of 1 7/8" headers but i've yet to hear anybody install a set trouble free. Mike had to chop off primary #1, extend it and then reweld it to clear the steering shaft. I heard similar stories from other people, where they would have to notch the tube or dimple it. For $1000 they should fit perfect. Not an investment that I was willing to make.

Lemons makes a set for our cars that are probably the best fitting big headers, but I'm pretty sure you need to fight with them anyway and they will need bolt adapters since there is so little room between primaries. N20Dave, Sikora, and RobSS all ran 1 7/8"+ Lemons headers.

I think I'm gonna go for it...and probably regret it when installing.

If I was going to swap the rack for a manual rack and get rid of the rag joint I would do headers at that point since I could have a little wiggle room.
