Just an update. The block, rods and crank are home from the machine shop. I had the crank polished and the rods were just dipped to clean any contaminants off before assembly. The block was hot tanked and a hone ran through to just make things happy. I went with all King HP bearings on this build, and new JE rings are on the way. Tonight, Ill be placing the crank in place and getting the mains torqued to spec.

I would like to give a shout out to 95Blackbird for giving me a hell of a deal on some ET Streets. Also, after Christmas there should be a converter on the way as well. I'm shooting for the 1st or 2nd week of Jan for the engine being bolted in.

I should be a lot further than that but December has been kinda crazy for me. I was elected to the position of 2nd Assistant Chief about 2 weeks ago and the change over process is in the works.

Happy to help, glad to see they are going to a good home. It was my pleasure to meet you. HOPEFULLY i'll be able to get my car on the road this spring and we'll be able to hang out. BTW, congrats on the promotion!

Jan Update: Short block is together but still on the stand...ughh but it's at least complete up to the Opti. I did end up getting a PI 3200 stall from a member (Badass93TA) and have decided to have the trans built while its out. I've put too much into the rest of the drivetrain to just ignore the trans, so it'll be down longer than planned to do it right the first time.

So I've been steadily collecting parts for the last few weeks. I have everything for the engine except pushrods. I still have yet to get the pan on due to me snapping my dipstick tube trying to clear the splayed main cap. I should change my screen name to Hulksmash. Anyway, the new one is in the mail. Also I will be dropping the cross member and prepping the rest of the engine bay for paint. I did pick up a 94 4l60E core to have rebuilt so hopefully I will have that done well before OCMD.

On an appearance note; I picked up a TA hatch, wheels, bumpers along with the rest of an 95 Trans Am. Unfortunately, the car has been destroyed to the point of no return. I think they used an axe on the poor thing. So it'll be sent to the crusher after I pull anything of value off.

Ok, I'm going to be running a set of Comp 3/8 Ultra Mags that I picked up from Noice with matching Comp guide plates. Now I need longer rocker studs to clear the guide plates; Any one have any suggestions?

Pick up a set of used ARP 3/8 studs, they are studs so its not like they can go bad, and since you are using the thinner 3/8 over 7/16 the added rigidity will be worth it. I paid $80 shipped for my used 7/16 ARPs

I ended up doing just that, ARP's have already been installed. I originally wanted 7/16 but I picked up a set of all most new 3/8 rockers at a great price from a member here. Thank you.

Ok, I finally got my heads back from the machine shop after almost 3 months of them being there. I was in no rush but still glad their home. I finally got a break from working on my jeep yesterday and got to work on the engine. Attachment 19034

Comp Pro Mags chillin out for the time being.

Now for my problem. I believe it looks pretty good but I always second guess myself. But does this seem about right?

I used a formally stock lifter that I made solid and my checker set at stock height. (7.200)
