check my thread, pics are on page one i believe, bfh, razor knife, tins snips, 4 inch grinder, and a hammer n dolly. I made 29 x10.5 hoosiers fit with a 1/4" wheel spacer, cheap ones from autozone (rubbed factory lca's a bit, might have cleared tubular ones tho) . Turns out the tires are too big for me at this point so im getting rid of them and running 275 50 15 555r's. Hope this helps. Good luck monday, i'm staying tuned....
Well dyno time went great. Tune that was in it was way to rich by about a point on the gas scale, and surprisingly the car made most power with only 32* of timing. the afr looks like a flat line at 8.1 AFR,which is around .82 lambda. Im really happy he had zero issues with tuning the car and the little lt1 didn't put a bad taste in his mouth and said i was welcome to bring the car back any time . the car ended up picking up 40whp over the tune that was in it and the converter was stalling at 5300 :frustrated:
only bad thing and it's not really bad, just kind of bugged it didn't put down a number was the little 8" converter in the car would not couple period on the dyno so the car didn't put down any hp to the tire, which really bugged me. But he told me not to worry cause that high of a stall of conveter that won't couple ain't going to read worth a piss. he had a 496" BBC in the shop a little bit ago with the same 8" high stall converter and it only put down 460whp but ran 9.10's at a 150mph on motor in a 3000lb car. I called FTI who built the converter and said the exact same thing, when i take it to the track it'll couple a lot better when the car gets rolling and even better when i start spraying it... worst case if i have to pull it and have it tightened.
but by judging when the car went 6.77 on motor and where the rpm was i don't think that converter has more then 8 to 10% slippage
i never understood converters, here's a picture of the car that tj is the crew chief for, makes me and my car feel inadequate lol.. he told me when the cars out of boost it flashes the converter to like 7800 but when it gets rolling down the track and makes 50 lbs of boost! it couples and has a 1% slippage rate... car is sick!
Wow. Im glad to hear the tune went well. Your car is gonna be a beast sounds like it. I wish you luck my friend!
Excellent news... now for some ETs...
Always nice went a dyno day goes well. Hoping I have a similar experience soon.
Thanks man. I can't wait for spring to get here ! How has your car been going?
Yes sir. Just need this 2 feet of snow on the ground to dissappear and warm up... it is already driving me nuts having it sit in the garage lol. I hope it runs better then it did last time we were out.
Time for the boost tuning? It didn't take him squat to dial the car in. Maybe 2 to 3 hours and that was it
That's great. Mine always end up being all day adventures no matter how well I plan. Rebuilt motor is going back on the dyno with boost of course to see what she does. No oil consumption so far so hopefully everything runs clean to let the tuner do his thing.
Engine or chassis dyno? Who does your guys tuning up in NJ?
