We rebuild wrecked ones at the shop from time to time and every time I've driven one they were nice. Its usually just a mile to the alignment shop though. lol
Expensive parts ....an air box for one of the newer ones was $500!

That's why im staying away from the new ones. Plus they started using turbo 2.0 in some trim levels. And I don't want that.
Also read somewhere that newer ones use fiber optics. Screw that mess.
Fiber optics? What are they using fiber optics for? Do they get FiOS in the car?
only 250? My moms kia makes 276 out of a 2.0 lolQuote:

Like I said not race cars. LOL
But great ride. I loved the ride of each one ive test drove. Plus rwd which is a requirement for me.
Umm, yeah, I'm good lol. And what a crock and way to jack the price up, I can't say I've ever noticed any kind of audio lag in my stock Delco 10-speaker setup in my TA that's now 18 yrs old. And that's running it from my phone into a cassette-to-headphone-jack converter into the tape deck LOL. I'd love to see someone try to justify the necessity for fiber optics in place of audio lines, there's just not enough data being pushed to even come close to making it worth it.
Don't blame you, man. I can't bring myself to buy any newer cars ever since I read about the government initiative to install hidden "black boxes" in every new car.

We'd all be screwed if we have to start paying per mile instead of just avoiding toll roads (for those of us who are cheap). I also don't like the idea of the black box recording event data that can later be used against you. Isn't the rule with police that they have to witness the act of speeding to nail you for it? There's no way around it if they just check your black box and slap you with a fine, even though they were nowhere near you when you did it.
The black boxes store info of car few seconds leading up to a accident. Like spead, braking, seat belts being used ect. They have been in cars for over a decade already. Im not worried about that
I think a worthwhile system they should program into cars is having to scan in or type in a valid insurance policy number before the ignition system will work. Solve the problem of uninsured drivers on the road getting into wrecks and running before cops can get there. No insurance, no ignition, no drive.
I was just going to respond with this same info. People will be suprised how many cars have "black boxes" in them already. As an ACCIDENT RECONSTRUCTIONIST these "boxes" are a great tool for determining what happened.
People think its only the new cars thay have them... Its not.

Thanks, that's good info! Looks like my Trans Am is the only car with a black box, then. Monika's Corvette and my Lumina are both too old lol.
I believe u are correct. Haha.. 96/97 seems to be the beginning.

And funny enough, I've stared right at the damn thing, not knowing what it was, when I was working on my clutch swap. It's the silver metal box underneath the center console right behind the shifter.

Looks like Mercedes just started doing it for 2014 models and so far nothing from Audi on that list lol. Guess the Germans aren't big on putting EDRs in.
It really started as a U.S. safety thing... So makes sense our cars are the older ones.

Wife saw I transfered 3,000 to the paypal account. And asked my why I did that.
I patted her on the head. And said shhhh its man stuff. Don't worry you pretty little head about it. It's to complicated for your woman mind to understand.
She didn't like that. LOL
So I went to Walmart at bought her a Sodastream.
