Cool, it looks like a different car now. The stance really changed. FWIW, If it were me, I'd consider just flat blacking the hood.

I'm torn between painting the car all black and putting GM Goodwrench decals all over it or white with a big red M on the hood like the Mach 5.
I had an interesting time at Pitt to say the least.

The best I could muster was a 2:01.46 which happened in the 2nd session. There were supposed to be 9 sessions total at this event, but I ended up cording the shoulders on 3/4 of my RE71RS tires at the end of session 5, probably from a combo of overdriving and lack of camber. Times seemed to get slower after the 2nd session, probably because we were sharing the track with drifters at this event who made the surface dirty as hell.

I also fought brake fade the whole event and could only get in 3-4 laps at a time before the pads lost all bite and braking torque. These EBCs should be good to 1650F so idk what gives. I drove out to the Summit Racing store in Ohio between sessions 4-5 and picked up some Hawk DTC60s to see if they were any better or worse, but I never had a chance to try them since the tires went out.

Awesome, That's perseverance at it's best. Driving from the track to get brake pads, then shredding the tires. Good thing you didn't pop one!
Thanks for sharing,

Oh, GM Goodwrench and some Dale Sr. #3's would look cool!
Did you check the brake fluid? Possibly boiling it?
I doubt it's the fluid. I run Castrol SRF and bled it before I left for Pitt, then once again after session 3. It made no difference.
The pedal doesn't get low or anything, it just takes a lot more pedal force to stop the car and the initial bite disappears once hot. Its gotta be pad fade.
Pieced together a some bleedable clutch hydraulics so I could do a proper DOT4 flush. The master cylinder in this thing is only a few years old and it's already squeaking. It also gets a little weak when it gets hot so the DOT4 fluid should help. This is a more legit alternative to the drill mod. Parts list looks like this:
Master cylinder - LUK LMC373 (pretty certain this is identical to stock, made in USA)
Slave cylinder - SKP SKCS360052 (made of metal and has a bleeder on the top!)
AN4 adapters - McLeod 139026 and 139027
AN4 hose - McLeod 139100-26
I cut the rubber hose insulator off of the stock assembly and taped it onto the new hose. I also transferred over the hose routing bracket that bolts to one of the slave cylinder studs.
Feels good so far! Clutch engagement moved higher up on the pedal and it takes less effort to get in gear.

Hey, Thanks for the part numbers here. I was especially interested in the metal slave cylinder with the bleeder. It will be in the next group of parts I buy for my '57 project. I may go ahead and do the same upgrade on my Camaro too.

Made one last trip to NJMP before calling it for the season. It was trying to get to Lightning on Friday, but it rained so I switched my registration to Thunderbolt on Saturday. A random miss started to creep in during the 3rd session so I called it quits after that... it might be Opti time lol.
Best was a 1:30.7 which is about 1s behind my old PB. I ran that halfway through the session with greasy tires though.

I ran over a giant concrete rock on the way home up Rt.55 which totally destroyed my front right wheel and blew the tire sidewall out. I was going over a little bridge that runs over a creek and couldn't see it because it was the same color as the bridge. It's just a chunk of the highway that came apart... thanks New Jersey!
Had to get towed home. The wheel scraped the shit out of the caliper body, but I think it'll be alright. The crossover tube on the caliper got nicked so I'll have to replace that. Hopefully the rest of the car is OK.

Awesome run, your driving skills seem to improve every time you share a video. Bummer on the road debris ruining your day. I don't suppose you bought road hazard insurance on the new tires and rims?
