You could do that. I don't run a pcv valve at all. Just a port to the can for it to do is magic.

Trying to figure out where to get a 4" over-the-axle pipe without buying the overpriced Mufflex catback. $650 for a single system made of 50 cents of scrap metal, lol no thanks. I remember reading about cutting up a 4" catback from a duramax but dunno which one.
Stock dmax is 3.5, I can take pics of mine if you need reference stuff.
From experience, just stick with the 3.5" over the axle. The 4" is REALLY TIGHT.
I see a bunch of universal diesel tailpipes up on ebay. Very tempted to buy a 4" one to test out.
I think 3.5" would be too small. 4" is my min. Something tells me true dual 3" is going to be heavy as hell, more difficult to run OTA, and won't tuck as well with my lakewood loop. I can always oval the 4" pipe by the panhard support if it there's contact. I do like the idea of having a backwards merge to go from 4" to dual 3" and 2 - 3" mufflers out the back though. I wonder if that would make it any less tight. Will have to look around under there later this week.
@blackbirdws6 has a 4 inch monstrosity out the back of his car. He just likes it cause he never works under his car to appreciate how much it gets in the way. ;)
