Yea generally speaking, a dual plane is for engines built with a lower peak powerband. If you have a cam that requires you to take the engine above 6500 then a single plane would be in order. I think there is an article out there that compares the factory fuel injected intake to the GMPP dual plane and I want to say it made a pretty decent amount of torque on the low end and lost like 5-10 hp on the top end. I would consider the factory intake similar to a single plane, equal length runners with a large plenum area.
This is a bolt on intake and for its purpose, is perfect for this application.
Look at what sits on any serious na power plant. .. 430" small block pro stock aussie stuff to 830" big bore spacing pro stock engines to high rpm roundy round stuff. . Carbs
Peoples inability to run them and get the right jets, air bleeds, squirters , float levels etc..set up right and the car runs like shit is there reasoning on blaming old technology
Efi. .. 400 in injectors. .. 2 to 4 thousand in after market computer wiring sensors and harness. .. sure the mags will sell that over a good 750 dollar carb.
The 2 carb cars I've driven being both 10 sec cars are pump gas street cars one being a 461 olds and another a 433bbc and they drive amazing. ... ones a holley and the other is a holley body with pro systems set up on it.
I will say it will pay to have a carb set up for your combo. ..
On.my neighbors olds we had an off the shelf carb on it that was dialed In Perfect with a wideband. .. we called up pro systems and had them custom make a carb and it picked up 15 hp at the wheels
Fired right up... revd smooth... lil fat. Letbit idle for 10... had 40 psi oil pressure... went in and out of gear nice...
