Nice fish joelster. I'm getting ready to do some jigging for some eyes, little steel head fishing and ice fishing before you know it. Been duck hunting a lot lately
That's a beautiful fish. The I filled the frezzer with my limit of snapper blues a few weeks ago, mean little f@##ers. The Fall striper run is starting to trickle in now. I'll be on the beach everyday I'm not at work. The storms recently kept the water temp up and the fish north longer. Hopefully, the cows stop here rather than go all the way to the outer banks.
I was pretty pleased with this one. My first ever smallmouth, nabbed on a Rooster Tail last Saturday. I now completely understand the draw to catching these. Caught my first Rainbow Trout since 1993 about a week ago also, really nice size too.

And my oldest has REALLY taken to fishing. He catches the blazes out of anything near shore, just needs help removing the hooks from them.
I'll get some pics this year . I've been stocking my pond slowly for my nieces

Nice smallie! Most people think they fight like a largemouth but they fight about 1.5 times as hard. We get some monster smallmouth bass around here, but typically you need a boat to fish the big ones well. They do come up into most of the streams and creeks and hang out along the rocky bottoms. The biggest one i've ever caught on an inland stream was roughly 3lbs and 18.5". My friends go hunting for them in boats and get 5+lbers here and there. Here's my friend Pete with a 6.5lb, 21" long, 17" girth monster:

That fish would win a tournament no doubt. This guy is probably the best fisherman I know. Constantly catching huge fish.
Yeah, now that I've found a lake where smallmouth are known for around here, I know where I'm going back to. The fight that little bugger put up was incredible. I was LOVING it!
