Well the good news is I've got 90% of the parts I need to finish the first stage of the build which is where I hope to be at shootout time. In addition to fresh paint and the engine work its basically going to have a mildly beefed up 200-4r and the stock g body 10 bolt. I don't intent on flogging it on the track, it'll be there mainly for exhibition. My other camaro (dads car) will be there for beating on.
M122 bracket fabbed up. Ready for final fitment when I get the engine back from the machine shop and in the car.

WOW!, that it is 2 cool. You are really impressing me man.
You uh, wanna go get some drinks sometime??
Cool build! I LOVE Montes. I had a few and will have one again one day. If/ when you get ready or need, I have a G body 8.5 and full UMI rear suspension.
Thanks! I will be upgrading the rear, probably next winter though. What are you asking for all of it? How does it hold up to the power verses a 12 bolt?
Well the 8.5 will hold just about as good as the 12 bolt. A 12 bolt only has an 8.8 ring gear. Add CM axles and a cover with bearing supports and you're good for 650 n slicks easy.
The rear has a new eaton posi in it, just needs upgraded axles ( Stockersare in it), all the UMI stuff- 650.00
Sounds like a winner. Where you located?
NC, but I send a truck to Kewanee,IL every few months. Is that close to you?
About 4 hours. You going to the shootout this year? That would be about the time id be looking to do something with it anyways.
Yuuup! I will have to check for room, closer to the event, but that works fine with me.
Sounds good. We'll keep in touch

Little update..... selling the cc306 and going with a custom grind from LE. Id like to give thus setup the best chance for success as there has been interest in trying to make it work on a 4th gen.
I'm wanting to tinker with it in a C4 Vette...
Oh yea. I'll bet it would fit. My dad has a 93. Next time he's over I'll bolt my bracket on and see what it looks like
Thanks man. I know I'm doing this build ass backwards but id like to know what kind of power I'm dealing with before I upgrade. If I only end up with 450ish I'm sure the stock rear will hold up. And the difference between a 200-4r that will hold 450hp and one that will hold 451 is about 1k.
WOW thats a big twist... gonna make it happen in the fbody..
I was thinking.. if this works.. you have something to patten and sell!
I don't want to come out and say I'm looking to go into production or anything. All I'm aiming at doing at this point is getting this one going and find out if its a viable alternative to centrifugal sc or turbo not only in power but cost. If it proves to be, I would consider making some brackets for others.
Well I'm willing to help anybody interested. I've gotten a lot of insight from "pocket" on ls tech. Have to give him a lot of credit for his work putting an m122 in a 3rd Gen. Actually I believe his setup fit under a stock hood.
I have over 6" from the top of my intake to the hood. Definitely would love a roots build after the Shootout.
Im so very curious to see what kind of boost this set up can make....
Oh man I didnt think about it but my nova has an SBC in it. The rear bracket bolts to the same holes the lt1 has. Imma bolt it up and take some pics......
Yes. Bottom end is good to 1k. I spent some extra money and upgraded to arp2000 rod bolts.
I've been reading that some of the ford guys are able to get 18-22lbs of boost out of there setups but I have no clue about what they are running.
POPO30 is a FORD NUT...
He just got rid of his cobra vert... it was SICK!!! He had alot of upgrades, it was like 700 rwhp....
Let me get him, and see if he can shed some light on the cobra blower on your LT1.....

Your set up reminds me of the set up on the wife's old Saturn RedLine.

Yea I looked at a few of those for ideas on belt routing. I like how the alternator runs on the backside of the belt. Depending on where it ends up I might have to use one like that.
I've also been thinking about when I get the engine done, starting it up without the sc hooked up until I get bugs worked out and for break in. I can just throw a throttle body on the front and run it. Shouldn't cause any problems I suppose?
