yeah im deffently hooked on the IR 231c. its not expensive, its there most popular gun, it stays together and after hours and hours of research its seems to be one of the bigger desires that everyone has or had and it really holds up true. plus it has a good tq rating
I skipped the posts so sorry if this was already said, but... I bought this Harbor Freight impact: http://images.owneriq.net/download/i...a77-000001.png
I wanted something real nice, but I needed something in a pinch and it was readily available. It has lasted nearly 5 years with no issues what so ever. I've left it outside in the rain, sand storms, dropped it, used it as a hammer, etc. And for $70 or whatever I've got in it I can't complain at all. Not to mention it's taken off just about anything it needed to. It's sheared off a few ARP wheels studs with ease. Only time I've needed more is when I bust out the 3/4" breaker. To be honest I'm almost mad that it hasn't broke, I don't have an excuse to buy something nicer till it does...
I had the Ampro as well that thing was a beast till it bit the big one. It twisted a 3/4 grade 8 bolt right in half on me.
I personally have never had good luck with the IR guns and I constantly oil mine. Though I havent bought an IR gun since about 2000-02. Not saying they are bad just not great. I haven't had good luck with Impacts in general I guess I put a little to much PSI through them.
Was it that one? We all know lots of their crap is, well, crap, but that's one of the gold nuggets I seem to have found. A mom-pop tire shop in town had 3 of them on hoses. I BS'ed with him about how he liked them and he said they are badass. Then I watched his son reel in the air hose, he left the impact attached and dragged it across the lot into the shop. I'm proud of my lil bastard impact.
