my best friend put his 94 computer in his 96 formy and everything worked. so i assumed it would be for all of them.

If I understand it correctly....
1993 gen 1 opti,
1994 gen 1 opti. OBD1 port, OBD1 computer OBD1 harness (wire routing)
1995 gen 2 opti. OBD2 port, OBD1 computer, modified wiring for harness or for port (unsure).
1996 gen 2 opti. OBD2 port, OBD2 computer, OBD2 harness.
If I remember correctly, not all 95's got the OBDII port. I think it might have just been a California car thing.Quote:

I think your right but its the other way around. California 95's got the obd 1 port. Every 95 I've seen had the obd 2 port

OP do your fans turn on and run steady when you key on? Thats what my car did every time we cooked a computer.

With this new found info I'd try to get a correct computer for the car. I don't know about all 95's, but mine is a Cali car and has OBD1 with an OBD2 port.
ill check out the fans first thing after work tomorrow. what I'm confused on is if people have 96 cars and use 94 pcms to go ob1 how come every write up i see says only switch the knock sensor. i havent seen a re pinning one yet. thanks for all the help btw guys
