LOL the whole time i was changing the opti i kept thinging about that hair club commercial, "I'm not just the hair club president, I'm also a client". They were definitely the only way I could have got it done on time.
Well, 10.39x but I had a lot of help getting there. I don't know crap about tire pressure, staging up, etc. And to be honest, even after it started hooking up I still felt the need to baby it out of the hole. Looking at my data log in the final even AFTER I left the line at 100%, I still brought it back to 80% for a second then back to 100% and I didn't really intend to. The whole time guys kept telling me that it was planting and I had nothing to worry about but I just lacked confidence in the car. I have a lot to learn, but for the time being I'm going to get an anti roll bar, some better shocks, and find a little weight to shed and call it good. I will most likely sell the 8.5" crank pulley just so the temptation isn't there to push it harder. I started out this build wanting a STREET car that I can pick my kids up from school in and drive long distances and not go broke on fuel. I want A/C, nice radio, exhaust that leaves at the bumper lol. It would be cool to see the car get into the 9's but I'd like to enjoy it for a few years before I tear it up again.
Awesome right up Chris, I loved seeing it come together for you there at the end.
Sandbagger.
I didn't know it was going to do that!!! One of anthonys buddies that races a lot was coaching me through the last burnout. I swear lol
That was an awesome run Chris, congrats man!!
:thumbsup::thumbsup:
Great run regardless, but I still think I would have had you. I will call you soon for a rematch ;)
Yea that sucks you broke. One thing I didn't bring was a spare trans. Rematch accepted
Lol... post those vids up here so everyone can see that ss making some low 10 sec passes.
Having trouble getting the video off of my phone with Tapa talk, I posted a few on Certified Performance Facebook page.
I had the same problem. I had to copy it to my computer and upload it. These are courtesy of certified performance btw.
Kyle told me they have some glamor shots of the car. I'm hoping they're action shots and not my fat ass under the car working on it lol
Congrats on the win Chris you defiantly earned it! Cool thing is you own part enabled you to stay in competition and come back for the trophy!
Thanks josh! The spacers saved my day no doubt.
I knew if I had half a shot at you it was going to take everything the car had. I had already pulled enough timing so i just cranked up the rev limiter and hoped for the best.

That thing is moving!
Giving it the beans!

Tires were definitely supple
Well mannered. Drives like it did with the 350 in it until you ask for power. I definitely like the procharger vs the side mount. I think with enough time I could have made it work but this thing is much better at part throttle. Its loud, I'm keeping the bullets but am going to run the exhaust out to the bumper to keep the noise down (for my ears anyway). I'm ditching the power windows, not for weight savings but because the way they are wired up and the switches from the factory are a joke. It's getting a nice radio, a repaint, then she's done.
It's funny because the guys at quick performance told me a locker was going to be too noisy for street driving. I don't even know it's back there
Ophhh... try a locker behind a stick... THATS NOISY!
Well it looks like she is finally what u wanted... a car that can dd...and haul the mail. Congrats man...and sooooo close to 9s.
Certified performance is having a dyno day November 1st (I believe) @79LT1Monte
and I will see where it's at and put back some timing and see what it gains. I ended up at 17.5° total timing at 6300 and 13.5# of boost and around 11.5 afr. I believe I took about 6-8° out of the base tune that was written for an almost identical setup by a well know accel dfi guy in florida. So with that and the suspension stuff it may have a 9.99 in it. I'm not going to skinnies, not taking the back seat out, and I really don't want to put the bigger pulley on unless I do it just so I don't have to spin it as high to get it there. I think getting comfortable with the car and learning how to do a correct burnout will help a bunch. Jesus I look at the videos and think no wonder I couldn't leave at any higher rpm. After that, it is what it is. If it never goes any faster, I'm cool with that too. I'm really curious to see what kind of fuel mileage I can get out of it at this point lol. She bumps around 2k at 60 mph.
that car is really flying!!!
Lloyd
Like I told you over the phone chris. .
Get that car to leave hard in the first 60 feet, some small chassis work and some weight out of it and you'll have a legit 9 second street car
You can always pulley it down and push it farther into the 9s ;)
Again congrats on the accomplishments. It's nice to see a combo come together and work well after all the hard work you have put into it and helping others along the way. .
Are u willing to just do skinnies for passes? Or u want it in the same form on the road...on the track. I cant wait to see what it puts down on the dyno...
I'll see what I can squeeze out of it on the dyno and do the math. If it comes down to a tenth of a second or so, yeah I guess I would probably throw them on there just to say I did it. But I've always got that bigger pulley I guess. I just don't know how far I can take these 4032 pistons
Well u have said it many times... u do t wanna use that bigger pulley and push it 2 hard...so dont. 10s are very respectable for what has to be a 4k car man.
3750#
I don't mind going to the larger pulley if I'm not going to spin it as high. Problem with that is I was crossing the line at about 6300 in third. He was making 16# at 6000 on the larger pulley when it popped before. I think it's set up just right for what it is, I just need to tweek it a little.
This all has to make you wonder what your car can do....
always spray a little water/meth if you aren't already. might give you that extra (safe) hp you need lol
bummed i didnt check out your car over the weekend, not sure how i missed it.
Is e85 readily avail out ur way. Seems like PA is the only state that its hard to find without ordering ur own drum.
Yea we have a few stations within a 20 mile radius and quite a few around 40. With everything that kyle and Ryan have schooled me on about the stuff, for a guy with a puckered up butthole about tuning himself, it sounds like the way to go if I need the extra bump to go 9x
I will bring you some of michigans best corn alcohol for the next shootout :) with some propylene oxide :)
your tuning margin will be opened up so much switching over plus the nice fact its oxygenated itll make more power guranteed. honestly I would get the car dialed in really good on your gas tune and finish off the year and this winter it'll be a simple add of 30 % fuel and a couple degrees of timing and some small tweeks.
I really don't think you'll need to pulley it down anymore to go a 9... you have a solid tenth and a half just to cut off in your sixty foot at least plus some chassis work , small weight reduction and maybe e85 If you decide and she will be over 9s.. I'll bet $ on it.
There's not a negative thing about the stuff. .. ive never seen the large variations in gas ccontent till you hit November but you can always keep an eye on it threw a wide band.
Looks like I will have to put giant pills in it to keep up with you :( or get the car out of the garage for starters lol
